I have to say I haven't been blown away with any of the samle images I've managed to find on the internet for this lens. The first ones I found , about a month ago showed some purple fringing, and these latest shots confirm that. It's quite sharp though and at least as good as my 18-55AL II and WR kit lenses. However it's a £500 lens not a £250 lens so I'll pass, at least for now. The range is great for a walkabout or travel lens but for a bit more money a used 50-135 is a much more appealing prospect.

The Tamron can be had for a little over £250 so I'd keep the primes and just buy it....

I prefer the colour version....... Not enough contrast in the B&W to separate her face from the background in my opinion..... For what it's worth....

It's worth getting it with the WR, even if you sell it later. I suspect the 17-70 is rather more WR than it lets on. Otherwise why go to the expense of putting those red seals on it?
I must say that I'm rather surprised that Pentax haven't got samples of either of the new lenses out for reiew. It's free publicity and gets the LBA juices flowing. So that makes me suspicious that they underperform. I hope I'm wrong because the 18-135 is very tempting but at that price it better be pretty damn good too.

I love Read, Ride, Walk, Wander and Look.
How long did you have to wait for "Wander" ?

Like the others said. There are two types, active shutter glasses which need a battery and are from £50 to £150 per pair. Samsung, Sony and Panasonic use this system. However each manufacturer's glasses work only with their brand of Tv.
The Polarised glasses are only a few pounds a pair. But currently only LG and JVC use this system and JVC 3D tv's are VERY expensive. The LG may be your best bet fot this system. However because of how they work you only get half the vertical resolution of the screen. so a 1920 x 1080 picture would only be 1920 x 540in each eye in 3D mode.
You get the full HD resolution (1920x1080) with the active shutter system.
I have to say I am unconvinced it will take off in a big way as it is ( at least for now)very expensive and time consuming to do 3D properly.
By the way many of the 3d tv's already meet your requirements Don. ( well same price as top end flat panels anyway .)

Welcome.
Nice to see some familiar places in your photoblog, my grandparents are from Galway. Some nice shots there. You have a good eye.

Number 3 is outstanding. No idea where it is but I'd guess in the City. Saw something similar to No 4, but on a much smaller scale, near Gt Portland St Station. I haven't been able to do it justice yet.
How are you finding the 21mm.
I'm tempted to get one because I loved my 35mm lens' field of view in my film days. ( and it would make the K20 just about pocketable.....)

Anyone try the 18-135?
I'd like to know how that performs.

I'm hoping it will have a street price at least £200 under that. Even then it may be still worth buying from the US as it is $599 dollars (list) there.
