Hello,

I recently picked up a set of pristene Vivitar AT-22 Auto Extension Tubes to use with my K7 and an A 50mm 1.7.

Unfortunately I hadn't realised that without the electrical contacts ( as fitted to the AT-23) the tubes won't work correctly as the mounts are painted and not bare metal. Hence they won't allow stop-down metering with the green button.

I have read here that it's possoble to remove some of the paint from the mounts on the tubes to short out some of the contacts and subsequently allow stop-down metering.

Does anyone have any details as to how much paint needs to be removed and from exactly where on the mounts?

Thanks

Having read through all of the posts in this thread and have been trying to come up with something to add but I think Father Ted has hit the nail right on the head.

The following is lifted from Wikipedia

"Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging symbolic elements in a way that influences and affects the senses, emotions, and/or intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings"

How about "Memento"

Guy Pearce plays a guy suffering from anterograde amnesia (can't remember a thing from one day to the next) and uses poloroids and tattos to help him remember as he tries to piece together a murder he may have commited. Very good.

The screen articulation is just like on the old Canon S2 IS mega zoom I have (although not nearly as big) It works really well and being able to close it back around on itself to protect the screen is really useful as well as the ease in low and high level shooting.

I'm left handed, and I think a camera with the controls reversed would be worse, not better.

None of the controls on the right hand side needs all that much dexterity, unlike for focusing and zooming, where speed and precision can sometimes count for a lot, and you pretty much have to use your left hand - which is fine for me.

I just feel sorry for all you right-handers out there, forced to use the wrong hand!
I too am left handed and right eyed and it seems to work really well with "right handed cameras".

It's a bit like using a computer mouse right handed and being able to write notes left handed at the same time

Only thing is the old ones are very slightly larger and dont fit in the K20D grip.
Whilst this old remote is pretty small (60mm x 25mm x 9mm) I don't know if it would fit in a grip. A grip for the K-7 is a way down on my list of future purchases so I'll just keep it in my bag for the time being.

I was looking at getting a Remote F to use with my K-7 and found there are very few avaiable.

Whilst sorting through an old draw of bits and pieces I found my old (I'm guessing at least 15yrs) Pentax zoom90 WR film compact. The camera batteries have been long dead but it does have an attached IR remote. Having replaced the battery in the remote it works a treat - Result!

You've got to love Pentax's backwards compatibility

I can now confirm that LBA has taken hold.

I have just bought the DA 55-300 and I'm waiting delivery of an A-50mm 1.7

Can't wait to try them both out.

All 3 are great but no. 2 really stands out. The texture of the log and the vibrant colour are suberb.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I've already taken Jon's advice and have posted my first pic in the Gallery

LBA is already in it's early stages - I'm looking at a DA 50-300 for some extra reach!
