IR remote controls

I was looking at getting a Remote F to use with my K-7 and found there are very few avaiable.

Whilst sorting through an old draw of bits and pieces I found my old (I'm guessing at least 15yrs) Pentax zoom90 WR film compact. The camera batteries have been long dead but it does have an attached IR remote. Having replaced the battery in the remote it works a treat - Result!

You've got to love Pentax's backwards compatibility

Only thing is the old ones are very slightly larger and dont fit in the K20D grip.

I've got a Pentax remote, but I hate it, so I've gone back to a cheapo one from China or using the brilliant RF-602 wireless remote.

The problem with the Pentax remote is that it feels the same no matter which way you hold it and finish up flipping it around 4 times before you find the right side. It should have been rounded at one end and have tactile dimples on one side.

None of the infra-red or corded remotes have dual colored leds like the RF-602 unfortunately i.e. green led shows for half press and red led shows for full press.

Whilst this old remote is pretty small (60mm x 25mm x 9mm) I don't know if it would fit in a grip. A grip for the K-7 is a way down on my list of future purchases so I'll just keep it in my bag for the time being.
