You've made a good decision on both counts.
Be warned, however, that we are in the midst of an LBA epidemic. This forum hosts a particularly virulent form (Pentax lens insufficiency virus; often abbreviated to PLIV) and new members are known to be particularly susceptible.
The exact mode of transmission is not known, but the current hypothesis is that it uses the posts and signatures of certain 'carrier members', who are often unaware of the risk to others their presence on the forum represents, as an intermediate host.
During the early stages the infected exhibit a wide range of compulsive behaviours, most notably multiple ebaybiditis. The prognosis for those unfortunate enough to become infected is not good, and significantly worse than that reported for those infected with the related canikomytosis, for whom a wider range of more affordable treatments exist.
The oft repeated maxim 'prevention is better than cure' most definitely applies this case and you should ensure you take every opportunity to use, explore and enjoy your new equipment to the full and not hesitate to record your progress in the gallery

Yeah, I agree with that bloke above. You've got a hell of a first DSLR there. Many of us dream of a K7. If you want a truly sharp, and cheap lens, look for an A-50 1.7 on ebay. About 50 of your squids should buy one. If you take that advice, you will be well and truly infected with the dreaded LBA (Lens Buying Addiction). Heed my words.......

I've been a short time lurker and thought it was about time I joined this friendly and informative forum so I could participate (I mean "ask all those stupid questions I have")
I've been a long time user of a mega-zoom compact and had gotten to the limits of it's performance and manual settings so have taken the plunge and upgraded to a K-7 with the 18-55 WR and 50-200 WR lenses. And what an upgrade!
