This new Pentax FF 24-70 DOES fill a real gap though, surely .... Even if the gap was created by the withdrawal of a Tamron option in K mount, it fills it but adds more. We get the Tamron PLUS ... Plus whatever Pentax have added to the mix. Certainly it looks the part. ....

How many of us will be able to source top quality F or FA equivalents? The question is about the added value on top of the Tamron base, and the price for that. It doesn't have the in-lens stabilisation, so that makes it cheaper than the Canon and Nikon versions .... But it has the special Pentax coatings and other optical refinements, the quick shift, WR and the style to match the new body. That all sounds very much worth it, surely ....
Everything is worth it, If you can afford it in the first place, a £100,000 Maserati is worth it I just can't afford one, but someone can.
£1200 is a lot of money for a standard zoom lens in anybody's book, especially when there are cheaper alternatives out there.

I am going to be rolling around the floor laughing at this last statement if LB stands for Lennybloke
Wow - quite a side-swipe there Mike

I didn't realise that I need to provide proof that I actually take photos myself or that I've kept over 50 lenses I've bought from the forums over the last few years.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There appears to be some bitterness over a lens that was sold to the first person to send a PM. The first person to add a comment to a post that a "PM has been sent" is not necessarily the first to have sent a PM.
I've just remembered why I spend more time on another forum
There would of been no issue at all, but when the seller states that I was the first to send a PM and if I wanted to proceed with the sale, then when I stated yes and it was agreed to, and then passed all my details I just presumed I had bought it.
In all fairness I don't think it's either our fault and any blame has to rest with the seller at the end of the day, telling you one thing and me another.
Forgive me, But what's the problem with buying something on here to give as a gift?
In this case the lens was being bought to give to my daughter who is going on safari in the next few months.
I think I maybe missing a in joke somewhere...
Feedback is fine, but personal attacks are not and PMs should definitely not be published publicly. PM stands for Private Message and I'm sure that Marat already knows this.
I think now we should stop commenting and the only additional comment that would be helpful in closing this off would be from the actual buyer.
John you are right, I drew a line under this matter many days ago and was almost forgotten about and I moved on.
The problem only reappeared when the seller decided to comment with untruths and made out I was lying, which like you know can be proved one way or another via the corresponding PMs between myself and the seller which obviously I will not share on this forum.
I think with my opening views of the event of dealing with this seller, you can take that as my feedback and I am more then happy, like I was many days ago to move on.
Nice story, now do members wish to read the Pms ?
Yes it was for a gift, that's the only truth that's been told, please don't tell lies, not when I have all the Pms to prove otherwise.
Yes I had stooped ranting, in fact I stopped ranting a long time ago, it is you who has brought it up again.
I will be posting the Pms on a other forum to discuss how not to sell on a forum and people can make their own minds up, because at the moment it's all, he said that and you said that, and nobody knows what really happened apart from me and you. Well until the Pms are posted that is.
The purchasing member did not pay extra or even discuss, indeed Marat wanted to negotiate price. Think people should stick to facts
All PMs are saved you know, with all the facts everybody needs there in B&w and even time stamped, I am not going to get into any war of words here on a open forum, what has happened has happened.
The OP can state whatever they want, it's their right as it is mine to do so, but when they know they are in the wrong and I have PMs to prove it, I think it's best just to be silent.
I don't blame the forum either guys as it's not their fault, I don't even blame the member that bought it, the seller on the other hand has done themselves no favours at all. Total lack of manners or respect.
What is the general sales etiquette on forums like these, as I think I maybe missing something.
Today I was the very first person to respond to a sales posting, this I was told by the seller, I was also told somebody else was interested but I was the first to respond I was asked if I wanted the item, I agreed with the seller I wanted it, I agreed to pay the full asking price and all my details were passed, we then agreed how he wished to by payed which was via BT.
I then waited and waited for a response, I sent a number of PMs requesting the details so I could pay but nothing, then 7 hours later I got a message back saying it had been sold to the other member, What was that all about, why have I wasted my time, is this how sales are conducted on here, nothing to do with who responds or agrees to a sale first but who the seller wants to sell to?
Now I know it's up to the seller what ever he or she wants to do or he or she wants to sell to, but this sort of behaviour is disgusting and e en more gutted as this was to be a gift and they had already had been informed of what I thought I had bought them.
Rant over, but really not very happy at all.
A total and utter joke, will never buy or sell on here again. I was the very very first to respond, sale totally agreed for full asking price and all details passed.
Then find out after several hours later it's been sold to another member, disgusting behaviour.
