And look out for the Argiope bruennichi with its distinctive vertical stabilamentum on page 25!

It seems that I had some missing information.

Thank you. I am going to try that later today and see if I can get it to work!
Also make sure that the flash is set to the correct wireless mode. Mode 1 = Wireless control from the camera, triggered by the onboard flash, or another wireless capable flash mounted on the camera. Mode 2 = dumb slave flash, which will only work correctly with another non-PTTL/wireless capable flash mounted on the camera's hot shoe. I think you hold the backlight button pressed for a couple of seconds to change it.

If the dumb slave mode is selected, the 'wireless' flash will fire when the cameras pre-flash fires and will be recharging when the main flash trigger signal is sent.

BTW: Wireless in this instance means just that, wire-less = 'not connected by wires'. The actual communication is done using flashes of light from the master/controller flash. Pentax cameras and flashes do not use radio for communication.

A wedding photog friend of mine lives in Plymouth, and I'd doubt you would tell that the pics were taken using a C..., C..., C..., no, sorry, I just can't type that word.

Sorry Peter

No worries. Sorry to hear about Merlin. It's devastating, I know. I had my dogs Gina and Lucy for 10 and 14 years respectively, and still miss them a lot. We are now petless for the moment since my wife's cat TJ died last year at 14 years old. At least he had a year in the sun in Spain.

All I can say is the passage of time makes it a little easier.

1a, 2a, 3b, 4a.

1A has too much sky in my opinion. If you leave it in, you might clone out the vapour trail.

Your sensor needs cleaning, it's filthy. Look at the mid grey area of sky in 2b.

Not bad at all. The first one has a comic feel to it but it'd be better with the bird facing you I think. I do like my Samsung 50-200mm, it produces superb results for such a compact lens.

PS: You need to clean your sensor Pete.

I think the colours from the Bower are better. I also think your choice of shutter speeds for these shots is a tad optimistic for hand held operation. I know SR is good, but . . . . ?

Try again with a tripod (SR off) and no window and use a shutter speed of the reciprocal of the effective focal length. EG: For an effective focal length of 900mm, use 1/1000th of a second as a minimum. Vignetting can be fixed in PP.

Look around for offers. Jacobs digital are now selling that lens for £169. I bought mine from them, brand new, for £30 + £8 postage. I'm sure you'll find other bargains if you look around. You could try Ffordes, Mifsuds, LCE, and others.
