Nice record shots, some could be a bit more than just a record.

If you shot these in RAW, consider doing some HDR/Tonemapping on the shots in the alleys.

Save images at about 2 stops apart, 1 for the highlights, 1 for the shadows, and the main image. Then blend them. I think they'll look very good and these are a classic HDR type of scenario.

No danger of that here.

What did you expect? Have you not read any of the past advice to just about everybody who has joined here that THE BEST chance you have of recovering photo's shot in challenging conditions, is to shoot RAW.

Nice set though, you've done the best you could with JPG.

Now, set your camera to RAW, and move up a gear . . . JPG's are for P&S cameras, which yours most certainly is not.

Others here will champion JPG, RAW is better, much better. It just takes a little longer to get the best results. Any RAW processor can produce the same quality JPG's as your camera can . . . in a flash.

There's a general feeling that lenses older than the "A" series aren't worth having on a DSLR because the camera can't set the aperture and consequently everything has to be done manually (in addition, the K10D can give somewhat flaky meter readings when the lens is used in any way other than fully open). Because of this, "M" series and earlier lenses tend to swap hands for peanuts and this is where you'll find some bargains.

The M50/1.4 is a great low light / portrait lens with stunning optics that can be picked up for around the £25-30 mark.

The M50/1.7 can be had for even less (around £10-15), is half a stop slower than its 1.4 sibling but has a flatter field meaning it's better suited to macro work. Get one of these and some macro tubes and you've killed two birds with one stone! Better yet, you should have change from 30 quid.

Can't think of any dirt cheap fisheyes I'm afraid, but you could always look out for an old fisheye convertor (the kind that screws in like a filter) - they tend to be quite poor quality though.
M42, K and M series lenses work fine on any Pentax DSLR (exposure mode set to M). . . if you also own a light meter . . . and use it.

It's pushing it a bit to expect 21st Century technology to be backwards compatible to the mid 20th Century. Pentax has done their best (and better than most) to maintain compatibility, but the rest is up to the user.

My personal preference is the AF540FGZ. The only issue I know of with the AF360FGZ is that it has weak latches on the battery compartment cover. Those on the AF540FGZ are much more substantial.

Not a problem if you are aware of it and ensure the door is pressed fully down before sliding the cover into place.

Fitting correctly sized batteries helps too. I use Eneloop batteries exclusively now as they are a tad shorter than the various NiMH batteries I have and hence they don't exert so much pressure on the cover catches.

Others here have found some of the Metz range to be very good. I can't remember the model numbers right now but a search of this forum for Metz or Mecablitz should turn up something.

Pentax/Samsung flashes are more or less limited to the AF360FGZ and AF540FGZ. The latter has a tilt and swivel head, the former has only tilt. Other than guide numbers of 36 and 54 respectively, their feature sets are very similar.

Don's right though. Weddings need both stills and video to tell the bigger story.

M42 lenses can be used only in manual on Pentax DSLR's. You'll have to set the lens to manual, compose wide open, stop down, meter, take the shot.

Suggestions? Buy more modern lenses, nothing older than SMCP-A series.

I use the method described in Lilly's link. It seemed the most logical. I also use keyword tagging in Lightroom 2 so that I can find all pictures relating to EG: "Dog", or "Cat", then narrow down to a particular "Dog". So for instance my bestest friend (deceased 2001) has the keywords "Dog", "Gina", and "Golden Retriever".
