Can't adjust aperture

I'd like to add that you'll probably be best to set your DSLR to "M" for fully manual, select your f stop on the lens, and set your shutter speed based on an external, hand-held light neter.
I love the preview switch, as I find there's a fair amount of trial and error to get the perfect aperture/shutter speed combo.
A lot of the faster old screw-mount primes really fool the built-in meter and in my experience, result in extreme under exposure.
I enjoy the process - reminds me of the good old Spotmatic days.
Have fun - the shots are really worth it.

I bought this lens on ebay. It's a optomax f3.5 200mm, M42 .Was bought for a bit of fun to see how i get on ,only thing wrong with it is the aperture doesn't work whilst on the K100D,there's a little pin on the mount ring on the lens that needs to be pressed to activate the aperture .It works fine if i press on the the pin whilst the lens is off the body .Also if i can sort this problem ,i'm looking to get a converter..ie..x1.4 or x2.. Anyone have any suggestions .. Ta for looking.
You'll only be able to use this lens if there is an auto/manual switch on it like Pentax ones, otherwise you are stuck with full aperture. I dont want to pour rain on this but these were not very great lenses, I had one in my Zenit student days.

Melness, I would agree with you on that, it's the only real camera shop we have for about 250 miles in any direction.

How right you are! In fact still working on a freezerful of film with a Spotty F, Don's Super Program, and your SFX as we speak. All in the heavy kit along with my K110D.
I've got it ALL covered!
And it's marvelous. So much fun to use the latest technology when you understand all that it is doing for you, and still being able to do it yourself should you choose.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
