DA* 60-250mm 1:4 ED (IF) SDM and weather sealed. Should be ideal for UK summer weddings, it'll keep the rain out

I don't have this lens, and I won't be buying it.

If you need that range right now then the DA 18-250mm may have to do if the IQ is acceptable. If you want that range and can wait, the DA* 60-250mm should be available fairly soon.

Let's face it, you probably know enough about consumer zooms having a 14:1 zoom ratio to be able to guess what it's like, and to know that it's going to be at its worst at the long end.

PM sent.

I have the PDF for the 16-45mm. Yours in exchange for your email address (via PM).

If you call Pentax in Langley, they'll email them to you. That's where mine came from.

What I don't understand at all, though, is why you'd need the scrape if there was already a seventh contact. There's no eighth contact on the body.
If the camera/lens electronics relies on electrical continuity between the K flange on both body and lens irrespective of any other contacts (perhaps as a common ground/earth/return - whatever you want to call it), painted/insulated tubes would need the paint/insulation to be scraped off to achieve that continuity, and it wouldn't matter where it was scraped from, just that it was of sufficient area to achieve a reliable connection.

250mm for a wedding?

Duncan's in Newport, the weddings are in Gosport. He'll need that much zoom

Seriously, I doubt that the 18-250mm (nearly 14:1 zoom ratio) would be any more suitable for a wedding shoot than most P&S cameras. Great for a walkabout lens that would cover most of what you might come across on a holiday, but not for weddings.

A range of primes is better, or at least some DA* glass. Maybe a DA 16-45mm + DA* 50-135mm if you can't afford the DA* 16-50mm as well. McBrian has a DA* 50-135mm for sale at a good price.

Remember you are capturing a once in a lifetime moment for the happy couple. They'll want the best you can produce and the 18-250mm wouldn't cut it.

Nathan, could you put the odd new line in your last post, my screen is now 1 metre wide

John, hopefully you'll point Donut to the many debates we've had about your camera in this forum, just so that he knows he might be buying a body that doesn't focus properly.

I'm happy with the two lenses I've had from you, but to try and sell your DS here is a bit under the belt, I have to say.

Pentax A compatible tubes are worthwhile, but AF? I don't think they are at all necessary as most macro shots require MF.

FWIW, I have a set of Kenko tubes marked as Pentax AF compatible. They are that, but only in MF mode because they lack the screw drive coupling.

Confused? You will be.

Could the mods please delete the first two.
You might have to file a report to get that done as I doubt the moderators (John & Matt) are able to get to those posts either.

Not quite Dave.

The Hot Shoe Adapter F definitely has a male hot shoe connector underneath and a female on top. (I have two of them, see them here)

The Hot Shoe Adapter FG has only the male hot shoe connector underneath and the 5P Extension Cord connector on top.

You must have received the Off-Camera Adapter F, which has a tripod mount on it's underside and female hot shoe connector on top.

All three adapters have the 5P socket for cable connection. You can see examples here.

I hope that clears up the confusion.
