You might have trouble finding a retail store that has a Pentax K200D in stock, but don't buy anything else until you've handled one. When you have, it's not likely you'll want to buy anything else.

If you update your profile to include your location it'll help us with recommendations.

For winter weather in the welsh hillsides it has to be Barbour or Musto.

There is nothing in the What Digital Camera article that indicates Samtax are going FF just yet. I think there is a lot of mileage left in the APS-C sensor and I think it's here to stay.

I wish you lot would stop tempting me to trade in my K10 for a K20... I have spent too much on cameras lately!
Resistance is futile Kris. Just give in.

I think it ridiculous that Pentax does not update its online PDF manuals, especially when they introduce new functionality that was not available in the original firmware release. The manual for your camera makes only a reference to SD cards, not SDHC. The firmware's accompanying documentation is also somewhat less than informative on the matter.

I used to build and sell PC's servers for a living. Nowadays I buy ready built PC's and servers.

Some day, any piece of sophisticated electronics is likely to go wrong. When it does, I know I could find somebody who can fix a PC within say 10 miles of where I live. I don't have the same confidence if it were a Mac.

I think it works very well and could perhaps be improved with a little more contrast.

The D-Range (expand dynamic range) function limits the possibility of over-exposed areas occurring in the image. With this turned on, the sensitivity range is limited to 200-3200 ISO.

Don't worry, you won't damage it. Not electrically anyway. Rechargeable batteries have a lower operating voltage (1.2'ish) than alkaline or lead acid batteries (1.5v).

I prefer Eneloop batteries for their charge life, and physical size. They are closer to the size of alkalines whereas I find other rechargeables to be very slightly longer. This will not affect you, but it can reduce the life of some flash gun battery door catches.

I agree, have you tried finding Pentax gear on the high street recently? In york yesterday the only camera I found was a very tatty Super A with no batteries, and that was in a second hand shop!
Jessops seem to be focusing on Sony, even to the detriment of Canon and Nikon. Come on Pentax get your finger out, it's no good having the best cameras if nobody can buy them!
The reason for that is that Sony are throwing more money at Jessops than the other manufacturers.

Money talks, or in this case, it promotes and sells cameras.

It's called marketing and that's something Pentax has not been very good at historically. We had hoped that Hoya's financial clout mught help, but it hasn't . . . yet.

I wonder if Chris of SRS would share his sales figures. Not specifics, just percentage sales of Pentax, Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus.
