If like me you always leave your chargers in . . .
That's both a waste of energy which is costing you money, and a fire hazard which could cost you very much more, even your life and the lives of others.

Always unplug or switch off electrical appliances when not in use.

A simple solution is to connect all of your chargers to a switched extension lead.

Isnt the pentax equivalent to the d800 the 645d???
Looks a different beast to me. 645D is medium format, while the D800 is a FF DSLR.

645D seems specialist to studio type work with a limited ISO range while the D800, is well a high end FF DSLR for a wider range of uses with a higher ISO.
Well according to DXO the 645d is just 500 pixels wider sensor than the D800e

Sensor IQ is not governed purely by the number of pixels, so 500 here or there makes little difference. What does make a huge difference is the size of each pixel and the spacing between them.

I upgraded from a K20D to a K-5 to a K-5 II and I can say that the difference in AF speed, accuracy, and in low light (read dark) of the K-5 II/K-5 IIs is well worth it.

Since all of the K-5's share the same sensor, I've not noticed any improvement in resolution, but then I wasn't expecting any.

From the reviews I've read, there is little difference in terms of IQ between the two K-5 II models and the non-s model was significantly cheaper to persuade me not to go for the K-5 IIs.

The only reason I can see to wait for anew model is that the old models become cheaper, but then you are missing out on using some quality kit until then.

I'm surprised to find the phrases,

In the same sentence.

Are we talking a bout an AF/MF switch on the lens, or the AF-S/AF-C/MF switch on the camera body?

If it's the one on the camera body, chances are that it's broken, but try removing the lens, then see if you can operate the AF-S/AF-C/MF switch.

If you can, refit the lens and try again.

I can't see any benefit to staying with a Pro account, so I've switched to a free account. Pro-rated refund pending, should be about a fiver

Gwyn,

You can download a Powerpoint Viewer from Microsoft.

I've always wondered why that lens qualifies to be in the D-FA lens series.

Whilst it may have an image circle to suit 35mm, it lacks an aperture ring, so couldn't be used (except wide open) with their flagship film SLR , the MZ-S.

Curious.

It certainly does have a resale value, as does the lens.

If you want to maximise your return, sell them separately.

You may have to buy a body cap and a rear cap for the lens if you don't still have them, but it'll be worth it.
