I think you may have to wait a long time.

Save your sterling/euros/rubles and buy a new one.

The same metering/exposure issues exist with the K20D when pre-A series lenses, or the aperture ring is used on 'A' equipped lenses.

Frankly, I wouldn't put a lens on my camera knowing it had fungus.

Chances are, some spores are now inside your camera where they will probably do little harm. Then you put an expensive uncontaminated lens on . . . and it's now contaminated . . . maybe.

The SMC Pentax DA 12-24mm lens has only the normal SMC coating, not the water & dust resistant coating.

There's no lens of that name in the Pentax line-up. Is it a Sigma lens?

Look at the focus barrel, and see where it stops at the closest focus position when the macro switch is off. Now move the zoom to the 300mm end and turn macro on. The focus barrel should now turn even more to focus closer.

If this doesn't happen at the 300mm end, try the 100mm end.

To remove macro mode, move the focus ring back inside the normal (non-macro) focus range, and turn the switch off.

This switch merely acts as a limiter for the focus ring.

I think a better question would be, is 20Mb/s fast enough for the user?".

It is for me.

I doubt the camera can write faster than the 20+ fps it is capable of in low res anyway . . . but it'd be good to find out.

Let us know.

Quote from FAQ for that camera on Pentax website:

Can the SDM autofocus system be used?

Yes. When mounted on an SDM lens to K200D, the focus mode is automatically switched to SDM autofocus system.

You probably had a lens fitted that had the 'A' setting on the aperture ring, but the aperture was set to something other than 'A'.
