Real, running, rippling, reflecting, refreshing water. That's more like it!

A superb set, impossible to pick a favourite. And that crop of no 8 shows what can be seen if you're prepared to look and not blur it into a vague haze.

Clicking on no 3 and enlarging, the ripple pattern near the right hand end of the bright band makes an interesting abstract (to me, at least!).

Thanks Derek.

Very interesting to see the H2O version. The milk pulls my eyes upwards towards the trees and into the picture (I guess it's acting as a leading line). With the H2O, however, my eyes are pulled towards the detail in the pool at the bottom and not into the picture. In this case, the milk wins for me, it's doing something useful for the composition of the picture. Other people may see it differently, of course.

But I still can't get excited by a pier rising from a sea of milk.....

6 for me. It asks questions rather than gives answers. Then 3.
Presumably the wee hike was followed by a thoroughly deserved wee dram?

Another planed camera. Must be mirrorless, can't see a viewfinder. Early Q prototype?

Do you have any shots of the same scene with the water looking like H2O rather than milk? It would be interesting to compare. I'm not a fan of milky water but sometimes it seems to be the better option, sometimes it doesn't. Can't tell without seeing both, though.

FWIW, I rather like your mono pictures in which the 'milk' gives the impression of mist rising over the water.

Stunning bird, stunning shot.

Is that plumage meant to be camouflage or a single bird dressed for a good night out?

Miniature willow so miniature buds. Tried to get a furry feel in the second, not sure if it succeeded. K3 + Irix 150mm macro (again) near 1:1 magnification - well, when you've got a new lens, you've got to keep trying it out

I sincerely hope that's as true for the human species as it seems to be for others - my wife is currently in hospital trying to recover from a mysterious infection.

An excellent picture of a dog being a dog.

To be honest, I prefer this sort of picture to posed shots of dogs being models, however good their technical quality. But perhaps that's because none of my dogs have ever been cooperative in front of a camera.

If life, weather and the pear tree cooperate, I'll try to catch the flowering of the buds and the development of the pears in due course. Blue sky rather than grey would have been a better background for the pair of buds but I could be waiting a looong time for that at the moment. K3 + Irix 150mm

The buds are fine example of natue refusing to give up without a fight. Here is the tree in 2011. I cut it off below the lowest branch, expecting the stump to die. In 2012 it sprouted new branches. It is now a productive tree again - albeit a strange looking specimen
