Nice images Lance i had a go with the DA17-70mm at the meet last weekend. You can see straight away why i costs a bit more than the 16-45mm.Also super feather detail on the FA lens.
Yes, the build quality of the DA17-70 is very nice!

I also obtained the DA17-70 f4 a few weeks ago, which I like very much as it is a great zoom range and the lens performs very well. A perfect travel lens, IMO, as the IQ seems at least as good as the DA16-45, which I thought was a gem of a lens, but the build quality is much better. Here are a couple of sample images:
Unfortunately, Pentax Forums downsizes these images, as they are much shaprer at their full size of 1200 pixels wide for the landscape format and 900 high for the vertical format. The sharpness and detail of the seagull shots taken with the FA*80-200 are quite amazing at their full size as outlined above.

The DA*300 f4:

Wow, the FA*80-200 f2.8 works like a gem on the K7.

Looks nice, Lance. Need any good recipes?
Cassoulet au confit de canard!
But probably the wrong breed of duck so I guess Lance's ducks are safe!

while not wishing to stir up a hornets nest .. can ISO 1600 actually be considered high these days?
Especially if you are using added software to reduce any noise.
Here is an ISO3200 shot. K7 + DA17-70 f4 @ f6.3, 70mm 1/20sec.

Nice pics Lance the dog images look great zero noise but i think the duck images look a tad noisier
Yes, the duck images are slightly noisier, due mostly to the darker backgrounds as I am sure you realise, but I am still learning the ropes of the Noiseware program.
