That lens (K35mmf3.5) came out very poorly in this test:

The latest 35mm f/2.4 is much better
yep, but that is just one test.....quite opposite seems to be reviews of owners of this lens or Yoshihiko Takinami's findings. There must be some reason why this lens is rarely seen to be for sale. Perhaps nobody wants to let it go?

Some would argue you are not getting more for your money by going that route.

Quality not quantity and all that

I've never bought a 'superzoom'. I see it as getting less for my money, and is exactly why I'd never buy a DA 18-135.

If you want a high quality prime you can get an MF Pentax 50/1.7 for a decent price.

In fact you can get an AF Pentax FA 50/1.4 for about £200
Sure you're correct, but that exactly seems to be point of this thread. To release a set of cheap primes with higher optical quality, which is unachievable with superzooms. I guess add to DAL 35 another lenses, let's say DAL 24, DAL 85, DAL135 and there you go.

Under £300 for a 300mm * lens is ludicrous especially when
people are criticising Pentax for not making long glass.

300mm is not long glass in this day and age.
I wonder what is long enough glass to be rightfully named long then?

FA 50/1.4 is not going to be sharper than FA 50/1.7, only significantly more expensive. If I were you I would keep FA50/1.7 and try to work out AF calibration as was mentioned...

Hi, that's fair enough that you chose to end the listing, but in future you should really plan on leaving things for a longer time to sell. The forum is not ebay - just because you put something up does not mean it will sell within a week. However, if you have some patience, most good items will sell at a fair price eventually!
You have the point, but I thought that maybe I should keep the lens, although I'm using it sparely rather than sell it and then regret it

So if the M* is supposedly worth in the region of £300 whats that estimated value of the A*300?
Well with A* you get full compatibility with Pentax dSLR's....so I would price it more than M*300
