any links to PhotoMe please?
(Google came up with too many results)

Thanks
Google always comes up with hundreds (thousands) of results - I downloaded it from ...

http://www.photome.de/
Thank you, appreciated.

Edit:
Pentax Model: K10D
Manufacturer Date: 2007.12.03
Model Revision: 2.1

It looks like Pentax are changing the "2" in 2.1 to an "8" to show it has been repaired, so model 8.1 (repaired) is now the equivalent to a version 2.1 (original).

favourite magazine subscription?
Penthouse, Razzle, ....... Oooops! (only joking)

Seriously I do not subscribe to any photographic magazine.
I used to subscribe to some computer based magazines but I do know quite a bit about computers so gave up on those a while ago.
I do fix, upgrade and build computers for friends, family and a few others.

Many magazines are two months behind by the time they come to print and become available. Have any 'photographic' magazines mentioned the merger of Pentax with Hoya (filters) yet? I doubt it.

I feel that more information is readily available on the internet from forums like this one and other sites. The amount of information which is sort after in a magazine may only occupy half a page of the whole magazine, or less, unless the magazine is specialised.

It is, without doubt, a sign of the times.
This type of story isn't an isolated incident.

I used to (past tense), with my compact camera, take photos of children enjoying themselves at the annual fair.
Seeing these innocent faces laughing on the "cups & saucers" and other rides was a delight and something which I wanted to capture and freeze in time.
Last year, with my larger D-SLR camera, I was afraid to take this type of photo at the annual fair, I was conscious that my hobby and love of children could be easily be misinterfreted.
The same applies to a public beach, dare I get my camera out?

Personally I blame the PC brigade (politically correctness) for much of this nonsense, they are screwing up this lovely country of ours; bah bah black sheep, is just one example

What are the "rights" of an amateur photographer?

No, £300 would be "out of the question".

Thanks guys, I'm glad I'm over the confusion, call it a learning curve.

The kit lens is f/3.5 at its widest, and more likely f/4 and slower. The FA 50mm is a f/1.4. That is three stops faster which means eight times more light. That is an enormous advantage when you cannot (or do not wish to) use a tripod or flash. You will be able to take photos in a dance recital without distracting flashes going off and without lugging around heavy gear.
Thanks rparmar
..... and now I can see the benefit of the 50mm that is being recommended.

I'm glad I've joined this forum now, some great advise, Thanks.

As for primes from 70mm upwards, I don't think you'll find an AF one for your budget. If you do, please mention it here because I might like one too!
no probs, but after I bought it first.

You already have a 70mm lens, the Sigma 70-300. It's not a 105-450mm on digital, but if you were using a 35mm film camera, to get the same field of view that this lens gives you on digital, you would need a 105-450mm lens.

With hindsight, most of us can easily sit here and say "don't buy another lens just because you feel you have to have a thrid lens", but when you're starting out, it's easy to get carried away.
Thanks Dan

Right ......? Has someone has given me the wrong information then (not on this forum)?.

Someone told me that the Sigma APOmacro 70-300mm would be a 105-450mm on digital (x1.5). So it's the other way round then is it?.
So my 70-300mm is actually a 70-300mm on my digtal SLR camera even though it's not a DG or EXDG.
If this is true then I'm covered and won't need a third lens just yet as I thought it was 105mm.

Please can someone explain the digital Vs 35mm film theory in respect of lenses.
