Thanks for your comments, all, happy to show off our area when I can!

Nigel, I take your point, but am happy that the colours are pretty realistic - the same shots taken today would be considerably greener, I'd say!

Don, not sure I'd recognise an airedale terrier if I saw one!

Dave and Carl, you probably know the area much better than I do as an occasional visitor. Maybe worth an outing sometime, maybe in the autumn?

Here's a close-up of the church I just found - a fine solid bell tower!

Perhaps not the most famous/scenic of the Yorkshire Dales, but has plenty to please the eye. Hope these give a bit of a feel for it. K5ii + Pentax 18-135mm

Thanks for the comments, glad you like them. You're right, David, I was chuffed! Lost count of the times I've gone out with the camera and found none, then not had the camera and seen several! All came together eventually.

Found a nest hole high up in a live tree - no wonder they made so much noise making it! Male and female both making regular trips to bring food yesterday.

All sorts going on in local woods at this time of year, naturally. Lucky enough to find a pair of treecreepers gathering nest material and taking it to a crack in a dead tree with an unobstructed view. Hope you like these. Woodpeckers to follow!

Amazing images, Alan. No. 3 in particular would stand out in any wildlife photo exhibition. Fantastic. We need you to get back in the habit of posting your inspirational photos more regularly!

Thanks, Nigel, I thought you would be one the skies would appeal to.
One of the things that struck me most was how the colours changed so much depending on the cloud cover, angle of the sunlight etc. I think this is illustrated to some extent in the ones you mention. In 1, 7 and 8, the light reflected from the land (or sea) affects the hue in the clouds above, particularly in 8, where there was a really strong feeling of the heaviness of the cloud cover at the time. It was the constant changing of the cloud cover in the often quite strong winds that made the skies so fascinating to observe and try to capture.
Thanks as always for your constructive comments.

First-time visit to the Canaries last month. Big, big skies, so here are a few for anyone who likes that kind of thing. All taken in the Playa Blanca area, nos. 3 to 6 looking across the water to Fuertaventura.
All comments welcome. K-3 and (mainly) Pentax 18-135mm

Thought these were quite interesting as a phenomenon of nature. The DA*300 was the only lens I had with me, so I wasn't sure how they would come out. Please feel free to comment on pros and cons of close-ups with a long lens!

As soon as someone puts a few peanuts out, the jays appear. The nuts don't last long!
