Thank you all for your comments - I really like the first two; no. 1 for the colour of the flower and n0. 2 for the way the sun was just catching a part of the leaf and the raindrops.

It stopped raining and the sun came out, so a few opportunistic shots .... All K-3 and DA 18-135

A lovely set. I especially like the effect of the mirror-like surface of the water in number one.

Thanks, Nigel and Gareth. The lovely tall buildings and narrow streets give all kinds of contrasts between light and dark , sunlight and shade. And cyclists everywhere with hardly a helmet to be seen.

I went once, years ago, and didn't even have a decent camera at the time. I think it was views like these that lead to me buying my first Pentax. Needless to say, I don't think many could produce pictures of this quality, no matter what equipment they have. 13 and 17 don't do much for me, I have to say, but the rest - fabulous! Just my cup of tea, Bill!

Thanks for all the comments, inc. the 8 ) advice!
JAK, I take the point about the wires, but since they are supporting the street lights it would be very difficult to clone them out - and record shots is what they mostly are anyway, an attempt to convey the character of a lovely city.

Don't know how that funny face got in there instead of an eight and I can't find a way to get rid of it! Weird!

It was many years since I was last in Bordeaux, so this summer's visit was like seeing it all for the first time. It's a lovely city with a lively and friendly feel. Much lauded is the Place de la Bourse (1, 2 ,, a big open square which has hidden jets for steam or water to cover the area, much to the delight of both tourists and locals. The narrow streets with tall buildings are especially attractive when the sun highlights the upper parts. There's a magnificent cathedral and an excellent modern tram system for getting about. Hope these give a good impression! All K-3 and DA*16-85
