After having a few epic sunsets recently and me, lacking mojo and kids playing up, I've not shot anything recently so tonight I decided to pop along to a local beach to see what I could get.

These are they!

When shooting images 3 to 6 the tide was coming in pretty quick. It was a sand bar I was shooting on that soon, where I was stood, was going under water. I thought I was safe as the tide was in front of me. As the light was dying so decided to go. Good job I did as when I turned around I didn't realise the water had come in and around me so now I'm on a sand island. Had to wade knee height in water to get back to safety! Far play, you don't need a lot of water to have a strong current that wants to move you in a direct you don't!

This is what happened to where I was:

the marker shows where I was shooting, you can just see some of the rocks.

Nice...

I do envy the ability to just "pop along" to the coast for this type of shot.
Unfortunately, I live just about as far from a coast as it possible to get in the UK..

Yep, I am sure blessed to live at the location I do, although I wouldn't mind living in the Lake District for a while!

A lovely set. I especially like the effect of the mirror-like surface of the water in number one.

Thanks John and Magdalena

The shutter speed was 0.3s in the opening image and I was worried that the surface little skippers that were darting around on the water were going to give me mini ripples that would show up but luckily they didn't!

Cheers both.

Interestingly I thought No.6 would of been a popular choice but good to see the opening image with the light being everyone's favourite.

Carol, you're in Brooklyn? I'd give me right arm to swap locations for a week or two!

I like them Gareth 👍

I'm glad you escaped with only wet lower limbs ☺

If you visit Burry Port the sandbank to the right of the lighthouse (as you look out towards the Gower) can be dangerous 😟😟

I'm sure many other locations have similar issues.

Cheers Stu!

Burry Port! Have you photographed the washed up beast there yet?!

Not something I want to repeat any time soon!
