Thanks, Lenny - and I do agree: a lot of the effect is lost seeing some of them small-scale.

Thanks for your comments, all!
I've just been reading that a lot of the walls surrounding small, irregular shapes date from the 16th century and the longer, straighter ones from the early 19th, so they've been there a while!

A day out last Friday. Hoped there would be a bit more snow than there was, but it's a spot that never fails to please, with views of the Cove itself, the limestone pavement on top and all those crazy walls! For anyone who's never been, hope these give a good impression.

4 Close up, it's massive. Peregrine falcons nest on ledges near the top.

I'm always attracted to trees at this time of year for some reason - far more interesting than when in full leaf. I like all of these!
Thanks for posting!

We have had some gorgeous late afternoon light recently. Here are a couple of examples which show the local area in a quite flattering light, I think. Hope you like them. K-3 + 18-135mm

Lovely mix of light and shade in no.6, armadillo or not. I like the composition too.

Bought from a Forum member, arrived Saturday in time to get out for an hour before the rugby kick-offs. Nothing scientific about these test shots which are all straight from the camera with no cropping, no processing at all. Nos. 1-4 all manual to get an idea of what's possible; the rest all TV/AV mode with auto ISO as the light was worsening, trying out different focal lengths. No tripod possible in the market, so all hand-held. A lens with amazing potential, I think.

Finally got round to converting the night shots of RHB. I still like the originals, but the mono versions have an appeal of their own and certainly do the place justice, I think. Views on which version suits better?

Not the best quality photos I've taken, but worth posting, I think, to show the potential for anyone thinking of visiting the area. Martin Mere is a WWT reserve not far from Southport and well worth a visit.
Not sure what settings are best for the starling murmuration - shutter speed has to be fairly high, but the light is so poor that both fairly high ISO and wide aperture are needed. The nature of the subject, ie birds flying quickly with sudden changes of direction, doesn't allow for a tripod either. Enough excuses, by all means comment and suggest what might have improved these!

I think the portrait aspect suits this set perfectly - the main attraction is firmly linked to the base it came from, rather than being isolated in space, adding a good sense of perspective and a feeling of being there. I'm sure anyone would be chuffed to bits to produce firework images like these!
