Certainly the new FA 35/2 is cheaper now from SRS than it was on black Friday. Now £265, I think it was £285 on BF. Amazon had an even better price at the time (not now though) so I bought from them as I had some vouchers to use too.

My MX has got a split screen. I was thinking of trying it in the K3. Any thoughts before I bust something?
I think it'll be too big and need to be cut down and you will likely need shims to get focus spot-on.

I use a less dense foam for mirror bumpers, they're better at absorbing the impact.

It's a failure of the aperture block in the camera, specifically the solenoid that provides the movement.

Buy a larger sheet of foam and cut it yourself using a normal paper guillotine. It's much, much cheaper than buying pre-cut ones - buy one sheet and you have enough to replace the light seals on dozens of cameras. And if you mess it up (I've been there) then just cut some more and try again.

Something like this:

I had to use shims to get focus spot-on in the K200D with the Katzeye screen. I remember I had to wait around a month and pay about 30 quid for a full set of shims from one of the authorised repair places.

Shims are always a possibility regardless of the model. They make up for small differences from unavoidable manufacturing tolerances.

I have a Katzeye screen in my K200D and it's fantastic, much more accurate than the K-3's stock screen or even live view magnified with focus peaking. Alas, Katzeye are no more, so the options are cheap Chinese ones of questionable quality or cutting down a Nikon or Canon one, but that's certainly not something I'd attempt myself.

The sensor in the K-5 and K-5 II is better than the one in the K-3 in all aspects except resolution. I have the Fujifilm version in my X-M1 and it produces noticeably better IQ in low light than both my K-3 and the X-T20, which has the Fujifilm version of the K-3 sensor. By Fujifilm version I mean the same sensor but with their alternative X-Trans colour filter array.

I almost bought a K5 II instead of my K-3 years ago, the biggest deciding factor was focus peaking which is very useful for manually focusing, and the K-5 cameras don't have that. Used prices for the K-5 cameras are very good for the quality you get, I wouldn't mind picking one up myself one day, though it'd need to be the mark II variant for the improved AF, especially under artificial lighting.

I love buying fresh film, and that isn't any old film: FP4+ is one of the very best.

Peter, you might need to leave it in the freezer for five years or more so that you can shoot it out-dated
