Aww the K-5 ii.....

Hi Guys...
I have not posted on here for a while. I have been enjoying other brands of camera which suit my style of photography much better i.e. touch focus...tilt LCD etc.
However I still kept my 18-135 WR lens and a couple of other lenses and was recently reminiscing about one of my fav Pentax bodies and one I regretted selling the K-5 mkii.
It fitted my hand like a glove and I just loved it.
I have been periodically searching for a replacement K-5 ii but nothing much really showed up, certainly not in great condition and low use.
Imagine my excitement when one cropped up "as new" at a great price. To good to be true. Well I now have it. Literally as new, less than 3000 clicks and a joy to use as I remembered.
Very happy indeed

Well done. Pity you didn't shout out though, as I have a K5II spare, just as you describe! Guess I should advertise it.

Having used nearly all the APS-C DSLRs since the K-r, my vote goes to the K-5 series for the best ergonomics and handling. So, although I mainly now use a K-70 and KP, I have kept the K-5IIs - still a wonderful camera to use, just a bit slow with its processing, and I wish it had a tilt screen!

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I fully agree with your comments about the tilt screen Philip.
Having limited mobility a tilt screen is so useful for me.
Other than that as you say the ergonomics and handling are fantastic.
Kind regards,
Wayne.

Wayne, just to let you know your original K-5 ii is still in active use, and is also at the 3,000 mark now

My K5ii rarely gets used but it does come out for the local airshow. It typically shoots 3000 images a day during the airshow!

I too reluctantly moved on my K5 a while ago. However, much as I miss it, I find the articulated screens on my KS-2 and K70 so useful that I don't think I could live without this feature now..

If the new flagship APSC model features such a screen, I would seriously consider buying it. Hoping to get to Watford on 23rd November to check it out.

My K-5 iis have served me very well for the past 7 years! No other newer camera has tempted me to move! I have loved the Pentax ergonomics since my MZ5n. But have to agree, the later models haven't bettered the 5!

I have high hopes for the new APS-C flagship, as I do want some of the faster processing, better low-light performance, I just want it in the K-5 body!

Me too. Still using and enjoying my K-5ii, but it's time for something new, hopefully.

Not that Pentax are slow or anything but you have been saying that for a fair few years now Gwyn.
No equipment list here but thanks for taking an interest. My Flickr
