It´s not all bad - you can use Takumars on it...

I rarely use my M85 wide open, I usually have it at f/2.8. Admitedly, this is largely to avoid the blue fringing, but given the difficulty in focusing at /2.8, I don´t imagine I´d use it wide open even if the fringing disappeared.

As has been said, the extra speed is virtually useless if the subject is moving.

Anyway, I doubt the Samyang version has the 3D "pop" and fantastic colour response of the M, which is very special even within the Pentax line-up. And you won´t find any 85mm as small as the M. I agree with Womble - I might consider selling if I found (or could afford!) a K or A* version, but nothing else.

I don´t see the point of a soft focus lens if you´re going to use it on digital. On film fair enough. Seems expensive to me, for a lens I´d regard of very limited usefulness.

I would recommend speed over range even with a travel lens. I found I missed more shots due to insufficient speed that due to insufficient zoom capacity. A fast 17-50 or 17-70 zoom is my ideal travel lens, I use the Tamron.

Looks like a good set, the lens performed well, and as said above, hats off for the bravery in approaching people to do it.

What aperture did you use? Looks like wide open or very close to it.

As the flash & lenses are all manual, you will need to put the camera into M mode & set the shutter speed to 1/160 (if camera set to 1/3 stops) or 1/180 (if set to 1/2 stops). That´s the sync speed for Pentax flashes. Below that speed I´m not sure what the results will be like, it may work, but above that speed the flash simply won´t fire.

Hi vincechu, I sent you a PM a couple of weeks ago about the neoprene case but I haven´t received a reply. Is it still available?

Thanks

I agree that the 35mm ltd is superb for everything I´ve used it for in the last month since I got it. From what I´ve seen, the talk of it not being good for portraits or landscapes is utter nonsense.

PM sent to underlay74.

As I am now back in Spain after 4 weeks in the UK (in which I´d hoped to sell all three lenses), I will need to add a further £5 to the cost to cover postage.

The 28mm is the only item still available, so the updated price will be £50 delivered in Europe.
