A stop is always double the amount of exposure. From ISO 400 to ISO 800 is one stop, 400 to 1600 is two stops, etc. In the same way f/1.4 to f/2 is one stop, f/1.4 to f/2.8 is two stops. I think you're getting confused by the camera, as the ISO changes in increments of 1/3 of a stop.

Processing the film at ISO 800 or 1600 will leave you ISO 400 shots over-exposed, but as John says, this isn't likely to be a huge problem because the film has some leeway for over-exposure, much more so than digital photos.

Does the lens have a Ricoh pin? It's a small pin that protrudes where the AF connects on modern lenses.

When I'm in Edinburgh, there's a shop in Morningside which is mostly used gear. They have a huge selection but it's very expensive for the most part, though the benefits of being able to try before you buy are worth paying a premium for, especially when second-hand. The gentleman there is surly but knowledgeable. Upstairs in their repair dept, I've had two 35mm cameras CLA'd there and wouldn't recommend it, they did a poor job and aren't cheap.

Apparently there's a Calumet somewhere, but I didn't find it when I was there a few weeks ago.

In Glasgow I've been to Merchant City and found them very helpful and prices for some things are good. I no longer use Ffordes since they conned me out of multiple expensive return shipping costs after selling me gear that was in far, far worse condition than their website stated.

In Madrid there are a couple of shops but gear here is horrendously expensive, especially used (€200 for a K1000 & M 50mm f/2, for example). Film is, if anything, cheaper than in the UK though.

These are very rare, the only place I know of that sells them is B&H in New York. I was going to get one last year when I was there, but I was very unluck and my visit corresponded exactly with the days that B&H were closed for a Jewish holiday (passover?). I was very disappointed but refuse to pay the extortionate shipping costs.

Good luck in finding one.

A place close to me (in Madrid) had these on clearance for ages but checking now, they're gone. Amazon UK have them through a third party here, but at least some are expired (the last one says Oct. 2009):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-Nexia-200asa-APS-exposure/dp/B00005KCJJ/ref=pd_sim_ph_3

http://www.amazon.co.uk/FUJIFILM-Two-APS-Nexia-Films/dp/B0027FFPMY/ref=pd_sim_ph_4

I don't think they're manufactured any more but there are a lot on ebay, though all or almost all are expired. Amazon US has quite a lot, though whether they're expired or not I can't say. Expired films will be useable but would probably have to be exposed at something less than their nominal speed in order to get good results. As such, I would check if your friend's camera can over-ride the ISO or provide exposure compensation. I'm not familiar with APS film but as it's the newest format I imagine it has something like the DX coding for 35mm film.

I agree with the composition. I would tone down the saturation and straighten it about half a degree clockwise.

I have a KX, which I love, a KM with a broken light meter and recently, my grandmother's old K1000. They're beautiful machines.

You're very welcome to post some K appreciacion here, it's always good to hear more opinions.

Looks handy, though the limitation to non-WR cameras means it's no good for use on many DSLRs. A lot of people would want a second body for it, and one that was no longer under guarantee because the mod would void it anyway.

I don't see anything there about a price though.
