Your files will be limited to the 4gb limit inherent to the FAT32 file-system/Movie JPEG codec used on the K5, so, are you hitting a 'technical' limit on recording length/time or is it a fault with the camera?

I think the 4gb file limit equates to around 5 mins of recording time in best video quality?

I've just had a look at some of their other products, including this link which seems even more versatile especially if you're into video.

But demoed with a 5D, so I wonder what they consider small? The 5D weighs around 950 gms vs. the K-3's 720 or so.

JohnX I received the call yesterday , the message stated between 7-10 days . As yet have not checked my bank balance.
Thanks. I must be patient! That said, I noted elsewhere that the offer accepts claims up to 15 March, so I was wondering if they do the cashback and mailing after then in one big go?

Received a voicemail from Pentax(Valerie) . Cashback sorted.

Just need to find more details about Flu CARD.

Is anyone else waiting on a Flu card. or was it supposed to be in the box.

Regards

Nadeem
I too am waiting on both cash-back and the flu card. Both are post sale fulfilment, so I expect a bank transfer for the cash and a packet in the post.

Is the cash in your bank yet Nadeem?

As said guys, I bought the K-S1 for a purpose and have no regrets.

Lack of WR; that's what pubs are for!

Seriously though, (a) I can't remember the last time I was out with my K5II in the rain, and (b) the Limiteds aren't WR anyway.

Think the K-S2 is going to sell really well though, but not to me, as I'll wait for the flagship model after next (I tend to skip two models to better appreciate the 'upgrade').

My name is John and I own a K-S1.....

...which does everything I want of it and bought it for; a small, light, 'cheap', high IQ body to go with my small, light, not so cheap, high IQ Limiteds.

I'm frustrated by all the negativity around the K-S1, but also understand it. The camera is positioned for a different market to the traditional Pentax owner, but I genuinely feel that the more traditional Pentax owner's are missing a trick ignoring this little gem if the price is right (which it was when I bought it on an Amazon deal).

Is it perfect? No, of course it's not, and if you try using it as you would a main-stream Pentax DSLR then you will pick up on some of it's quirks, i.e the grip. But, use it like a high-end compact - MX-1 even? - and it's very capable. I use a Fuji X20, and found I was constantly grabbing it for convenience instead of my Pentax kit. Don't any more.

I carry my K-S1 on my belt in a small Kata bag - a Grip-10DL - and my Limiteds in an OpTech Accessory Pack link over my shoulder. I have a wrist strap attached to the camera body. Very convenient, light, and definitely doesn't shout 'expensive photographic equipment'. It makes for a great, small, lightweight kit for when you find yourself mooching around in 'tourist' mode, which, for me, includes diving into a pub or whatever if it starts raining, so I'm not bothered by the lack of WR, which in any event matches my precious LImiteds! .

As it's apparently not very popular, and now we have the KS-2 on the scene, plus the promise of FF to come, it could be that the price of the K-S1 will drop to relative 'pocket money' levels. If it does, don't ignore it!

Regarding the price..it looks like its the K-50 upgrade rather than K-5 territory, so I would guess £499 body only..£549 with kit lens. Any less and it tramples all over the K-S1, any more and you might as well buy a K-3.

I'm a bit concerned with the current pricing strategy...theres not much blue water between the K-S1/K-S2
and between the K-S2/K-3...all very scrunched up. (Assuming K-S2 price guess is reasonable).
US$800
