From memory the rear lcd is a one-piece bonded wp unit.

Parts certainly available in the US which seems to bear this out> https://www.ebay.com/itm/PENTAX-K-5-II-LCD-SCREEN-ASSEMBLY-NEW-ORIGINAL-AUTHENTI...

Definitely the LCD as well as the screen protector? (An oxymoron if ever there was one!)

For the sake of £100 I would far rather have two years warranty and the great service from SRS.
I thought all electrical goods had a minimum of 2 year warranty in UK through the sales of goods act?
2 years under EU law, 6 under UK. Applies to new and second-hand goods purchased in the UK, in store or on-line, so whether they like it or not, this applies to Amazon too!

The rule covers a fault that was present when you bought the item, or a defect that occurs from a manufacturing problem rather than as the result of usual wear and tear, which is why I'm amazed that no-one seems to have taken Ricoh/Pentax to task over SDM or aperture-block failures.

It would be nice to know what is replacing the k3ii before I make my mind up as it will cost a lot to replace my lenses for ff
My problem too. I'm heavily invested in DA lenses.

I know nothing about eBay seller costs, but a couple of examples of this lens have sold recently for £295 inc. p&p, so I'm guessing the seller might get £275?
I have sold a few bits on Ebay and the fees are quite high - 10% of item selling price and postage cost charged, and if payment is received by Paypal then another 3.4% disappears along with a standing fee of 20p. So a lens selling at £295 with a seller postage charge of £9.49 RMSD (actual cost £8.55) after fees and postage would result in net receipt after fees and postage of just £254.94 with a total of £41 disappearing in Ebay and Paypal fees!
Blimey! Good job I just buy then!!!!

Amazon have several models by other makers from about £5

I sound like a spammer!

Pentax ones are nice, but the ones that screw in to the front of bins start at £30, although in fairness that's not too bad I suppose if you're going to be using the adapter regularly.

..Question: you say that the length of the thread which screws into the bush is shortish - so can that whole screw be removed and replaced by something with a longer thread as I may already have a suitable item?
I can't see why not. I've put the bracket 'somewhere safe'. Once I find it again I'll let you know for sure.
Thanks - "no hurry" because the bracket will take 2-3 weeks to get here
Found it! The exposed thread is 5mm long. The screw is removable, but is machined to match the internal hole/thread on the main support, so other screws might not work too well.

Many thanks - now ordered the same thing (from HK). I think I'll fit it to a spare Arca Swiss compatible adapter so I can mount/remove the binos quickly.
