I wondered that, but the K-1 trade in offer probably runs to about the same price and there would be less rush for Ricoh collecting in the old cameras. I presume they would then upgrade the cameras at their leisure and sell them as refurbished.
Best regards, John

The trade in value stated on the SRS web site depends on you having all the original accessories and the shutter count being under 10,000.

A great idea in principle but I can't see many K-1 owners prepared to pay £450 to upgrade. If the price to upgrade was £250 then it would probably appeal to some...especially if you had bought recently at the deeply discounted price around Black Friday/Mon...but otherwise taking into account the money you had lost on depreciation already this upgrade would seem very poor value.

Yep, totally agree, at £250 its worthy of good consideration but not at £450

People would moan if it was only a £250 Upgrade

They moan anyway so why not make it £1999 to upgrade then it sounds worth having.

If you have two K-1's sell one for £450 and then you can get a cost free upgrade on the other one and feel like you come from Scotland or Yorkshire

I guess that it depends on how much improvement the upgrade delivers. It willl be interesting seeing what real world reviews have to say about the new offering.

In the case of the KP, the difference between it and any previous gen APS-C camera is astounding. If the same can be said about this upgrade, I'm very keen on trying it out.

that's the price to change... making the value of a excellent K-1 with less than 10k clicks £1100...

what SRS or other retailers will offer in p/ex for other gear is something we can't guess.
