If you're looking for a light weight and small support, thought about a carbon fibre monopod,or one of those walking 'sticks' with a tripod screw on top? Or, one of the travel tripods with fold back legs that make it very compact?

One manufacturer - Giottos - used the 'Vetruvian' man to advertise one such model. http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/7527/Giottos-Vitruvian-VGRN9255-Tripod-with-MH5...

Maybe I've been lucky, but all my cameras/lenses are stored in camera bags (as kits) scattered around the house (some for much longer than I'd like to mention) and none of the lenses show any signs of the dreaded fungus

In my view high quality fast glass is a long term investment and ideally should be the first choice to spend your money on.

Eventually you'll have bought all the glass you need (there's always more you'll want though - LBA :eviland that's when to switch to the best camera body.

I'm pretty certain that the aperture blades are round on the WR version (nicer Bokeh in some peoples opinion), and it does not have an aperture ring (a disadvantage for some).

I have owned both and in terms of image quality I could not say that one was better than the other. I kept the WR version purely so I could use it in variable weather conditions, having siad that it does have a nicer "feel" about it
They are indeed rounded, and I think do give a slightly better 'bokeh' as a result. Also, totally agree about the 'feel' of the lens. Excudes quality.

All that said, I found nothing wrong with the previous version; only changed to the WR version because I got a good deal on it.

When I tried to access this on the office pc, TREND MICRO's security warning flagged this as a DANGEROUS SITE. Access it at your own risk!!
Possibly because of the referance to viruses. I checked it out on my PC/Kaspersky anti-virus before I posted and nothing was flagged, but, agree this could be a double-bluff! Doesn't appear to be though, and I accessed it via a US Police site.

Check out the Manfrotto system configurator here> http://configurator.manfrotto.com/ManfrottoStore/configuratori/en/manfrotto.php?...

Not totally up to date but assuming your K-7 and Bigma, it was quite happy to recommend RC2 (200PL-14) heads, etc.
