There's a post to this effect over on the other Forum.

Only one person saying it, in the context of what he's been told when trying to unsuccessfully buy a K-5 in Japan, but...

Which would mean the K-5 Super (or whatever) is on its way.
Best regards, John

Very old news It was reported as being discontinued
by Ricehigh on the 4th July and I think I mentioned it in
a post on here shortly afterwards. The original news
came from a dealer in Japan.
Half Man... Half Pentax ... Half Cucumber

Photokina starts on 18 September so we can expect an announcement of a new model soonish.

Not sure I will make it to Photokina this year though .

On second thoughts probably just as well I can't make it - since I can't afford a K-5 replacement anyway .

Meanwhile the K5 IS on the product page of Pentax Japan and IS a huge bargain, as those of us who have upgraded this year have found.

I doubt the replacement if it comes this autumn will be much under £1400. I look forward to buying one in two years time for £700 as I'm sure it'll be another fine camera

I'll admit that previously whilst owning the K10D & then the K20D I've always been quite keen on seeing what the next generation would bring, now owning the K5 has changed this as I really can't think of a single reason I'd upgrade it at the moment, it ticks all the boxes for my needs. As Bill says though maybe in a couple of years time when prices drop but I certainly have no current urgency

In some ways I hope the next flagship Pentax DSLR is only a K20 -> K-7 Jump. As I'm won't be in a position to buy a couple this year.

If it's a similar jump as we had from the k-7 to k-5 I shall be immensely envious.

I'm still with my K20D, so really looking forward to whatever comes next. I decided against the K-7 as I'd bought the K20D at the 'end of life' price, was put off by the early issues surrounding the K-5, then decided having left it so long I'd wait for the K-?.

If the K-30 is anything to go by then the K-? should surely be a big step forward if only to differentiate it from the K-30.

It'll be at least 24MP I would have thought. My main desires are much better AF and mouch better high ISO performance

I think we will see more AF points and better tracking but I would bet Pentax's SDM will cause a bottleneck on the speed side of things.

Can't see it getting better ISO performance with a 24MP sensor unless it's a full frame body.

With more issues than any other Pentax body, I don't think Pentax engineers will miss it. Mine has been fine to date.

So we await the arrival of the new heir apparent and hope that the Pentax QA department has woken up.?

Best regards

I only use one SDM lens .... 50-135

I have to say I'm not expecting the kind of ISO leap we got from the K20/K7 to the K5

Only think 24 megapixel will happen with full frame, otherwise I expect roughly same sensor, slightly improved af ala k30 and maybe a bigger frame buffer and faster fps.

My wishes

Extra SD card slot
Better rear screen
Less noise at higher iso
