Two final questions for you Chris - sorry!

1 Is the outside rain resistant?

2 If you do need to deploy the rain-cover, how easy is it given it's stored inside the pouch? (I'm wondering whether the camera/lens can be lift in-situ inside the bag or whether they have to be removed to access the rain cover.)

How would you think this would work with a K20D + DA 17-70? Too big? Just right?

Also, does it have a belt attachment or just a shoulder strap?

A recent review said this about this lens,'..Chromatic aberrations are incredibly well controlled, barely registering in Imatest until the lens is stopped down beyond f/8. This very low level of fringing should pose no issues, even in large prints, or harsh crops from the edges of the frame.', so it looks like you may have a duff copy or there was something odd going on with the lighting.

Could you post uncropped versions of the shots, please, with intact exif data? The cropped shots on flickr are pretty poor, but 'yes', it does appear there's some fringing, but I'd be more worried about them being oof.

That said, the kit lens shot doesn't look too clever either!

There's no class or course in the world that can teach you to write a great song and the same applies to taking a great photograph.
I can't disagree with you more! I am not a naturally arty person, but firmly believe that I can learn, and apply, anything.

I have attended a number of courses run by professional photographers, and found them incredibly useful, enabling me to get inside their heads and learn to see how they see; to break down their thinking into small bite-size chunks that I can handle.

Ok, I still don't have that natural, spontaneous, imagination and vision that artists seem to have. I'm very mechanistic in the way I compose shots, running through mental check lists of 'how would X deal with this', etc, but 'monkey see, monkey do' works for me and I'm enjoying my photography much more as a result.

Welcome Terry. I've sent you two PMs with details of three lenses.

Whilst agreeing with all the previous replies, other threads suggest that camera clubs are good places to join to get feed-back on your shots through clubs competitions, etc, as well as having the benefit of being with others with a shared interest.

I've also seen Forum members extolling the benefits of joining photography courses/classes.
