Some more here for people to dispute
What would 200% crops equate to in the real world? For example, what would the equivalent print size be if I were to print the shot? Or is there something else I should be considering?

In the examples, I would probably have had the uncropped shots as my finished shots and wouldn't be looking to blow them up further, so although they do show improvements in fine detail, in reality would the majority of us be looking for it from a distance? I would use a longer lens, move closer, etc.

And just to position myself in this debate, I bought a K5II as I didn't think the extra £130 to buy the K5IIs would be money well spent, despite the fact that I actually do see a difference in the detail between shots from the K5IIs vs. K5II.

I'm going to add what is probably a surprise to most..the 17-70 is still by far my most frequently used lens, very underrated IMHO

Seems Strange that you buy a weatherproof camera but not the weather proof lens to go with it,
This is how it was sold to me, if I had know I would have asked for the weatherproof lens as well.

Or, you could add a little protection to what you have? link

NB. These sleeves are NOT totally water proof or very robust (read reviews) and you need to check prices carefully, but they will help protect the lens/camera.

A WR or DA* lens would be the best solution, however.

It won't work with SDM or screw drive. 'A' contacts only.
So no AF possible MF only. Very good converter though.
It works well with 55-300mm on MF.
Thanks for that.

Does the converter work with SDM lenses please?

Oh dear. Then I suppose it's quote time from Johnsons et al.

From recollection repairers mentioned and recommended on this Forum are Johnson's Photopia, link, Harrow Technical, link, and Asahi Photo Ltd, link.

Anyone know the most affordable (but reliable) way to fix it?
Home insurance?

There could be a pin acting as a hinge. Check where the pin is fixed both on the lever and on the leg; you're looking for cracks in the plastic.

OR, if you could take and post a good quality photo of the lock?

I'll go along with 'Grrr' as well, especially as I didn't order my K5II until 31st December, having been told very specifically by SRS sales that the £100 trade-in deal would stop then.
