Couldn't ignore the grip Cliff-P put up for sale, so pretty soon I'll know whether this time round a grip is for me

Once agin, thanks everyone for your comments.

I've returned to this post 2 or 3 times before commenting, as I was looking for a lasting impression, so, for me, images 3-5, mainly because I prefer colour images but also because I like their abstract painterly qualities.

Images 1 and 2 do nothing for me, not because they're b&w, but because they ask me to identify what they are, and it took a little while for me to see the trees for the woods

Interested in how you would get something like the super thin CPL off the lens with so little to grip?

I've read that sometimes you can 'bump start' the SDM after a lay-off by manually operating the screw drive with a screw driver or similar.

Doesn't help, but I periodically operate my SDM lenses on-camera even though I don't intend using them to prevent this problem.

If you fancy a challenge, however, here's how to disable the SDM/camera interface so your camera will only operate the lens in screw-drive mode> link

I'm very grateful for all the comments, which to sum up seems to be more it's a matter of personal taste rather than step change in handling, etc.

I just felt it added nothing to the K20D, but then its a bigger body and just feels right all the time. Haven't used the K5II yet so will have to wait and see whether it feels as natural.

1.5>2 hours each way by rail/walking as we're opposite sides of London, but (a) good idea, and (b) too much temptation?
