I read elsewhere another 'from the horses mouth' quote, along the lines that the next Pentax is an APS-C , around 20meg (possibly using the latest Sony sensor), but that the processing has been improved so that IQ is equal to the 645D. Note the present tense.

This comes from the Philippines, allegedly from a Pentax manager at some sort of trade fair.

Anyone actually noticed any difference to their cameras following this firmware upgrade (other then Smeggypants of course)?

Could you post any shots to better explain the issues?

Support for the new HD lenses and Mk11 flash guns. Also may have addressed issues with metering bounced flash.

Forgot to say it was a cheap ND filter, would a more expensive one lead to less of a color cast in the images?
Some cheap ones do tend towards a purple/mauve colour cast, which appears to be the case with yours. Unfortunately the pp has only reduced the colour cast, not eliminated it, but in the process taken the colour out of the greens and browns.

Worth living with though for a little while until you decide if ND's are for you, then splash the cash on Lee perhaps, which are supposed to be first class and colour cast free.

Nice shots by the way, although for me the jury is still out on 'smoothed' water.

PS Might as well look and see what a K511 will cost just in case!
The 'classic' K-5 is available at silly prices right now, both second-hand and new. Nothing wrong with it at all. The K5II and IIs have various refinements and improvements over the classic.

Cheers, chaps.

Plus I would much prefer a mirrorless type, like the Lumix G3 or 5, rather than a big SLR. Shame Ricoh/Pentax don't do one.

Au contraire! In changeable lens country there's the K-mount K-01, (now only available second hand in the UK), the Q's, all well respected and highly regarded, and in fixed lens the MX-1 and Ricoh GR.(I'm not ignoring the various compacts from both brands- well I am I suppose:roll

Welcome Tony, and to you too Steve.

This is a really good Forum, friendly and supportive, so if you want to just be part of the gang, you've joined the best, but if you also want to hone those photographic skills, again you're at the right place!

Won't be long I suspect before you're 'weaned' off of your X5's and onto something else, like a K5II. Start saving now!

I have the software with my K20D. I'm sure I could image the disk.

Come on everyone. The Theta is really good, but just think how much better it'll be when they bring out the FF version!
