I cannot find anything on the usual Pentax/Ricoh sites, but it does look like a genuine update. I downloaded to check out the included readme file, which is in English. There is no mention of the reason for the update, just the usual method of how to install.

Support for the new HD lenses and Mk11 flash guns. Also may have addressed issues with metering bounced flash.

No doubt it'll have the meaningless spin

"Improved stability for general performance". which people will take literally.

New firmware here

link

I tried to do the K5ii and the firmware came up with 1.04 as the new and old and still asked if I wanted to update, so I left it for now.

Anyone else updated theirs ?

George

Did you download from Ricoh imaging (Imagine Change) UK?
Did mine this A.M. but on a IIs, did you extract the file to a formatted SD?
If so it should just load when you turn the camera on whilst pressing in the menu button at the same time...?

I did it from the pentax forums link I provided above. Will try the Ricoh one.

When pressing the menu button it confirmed the old and new firmware and asks if you wish to update, I clicked no as the firmware numbers were the same. From the comments on the pentax forums link, it seems other people have had the same issue, hopefully the Ricoh one will show 1.5.

Just tried the Ricoh link for the K5II

Still shows

Program Update
Yes
No

CURRENT VERSION 1.04
UPDATE VERSION 1.04

I'm holding back on this until its sorted, never had problems with these before. Will try my K5 and K01 to see what if they work.

Just done the K5 & K01 with no problems, correct old and new firmware versions showing on screen. Looks like a glitch with K5ii although it may only be a naming error I'll hold back updating the K5II for now.
