I know the K5II/K5IIs (and I think the new K3) do allow for this to be switched off. Not sure about other models.

I also have a K20D which I was looking to sell, but given what they bring second-hand decided to hang on to it and try some time lapse, hence the ac adapter.
Good to know/confirm that this ac adapter will work with both the K20D and the K5II.

Might be worth checking as I understand you can provided they're installed in something...like a camera!
I'm sure there's a thread on here somewhere about it.

I can't see any reason why the AC50 shouldn't work ok; everything I've checked points to it being identical except for the model number.
I also spoke to a someone - can't remember whether it was someone else in Pentax or a reliable source like SRS - who said they thought the change in the adapter was more to do with having to meet certain eco-friendly legislation. Could be some of the original components contained dodgy materials?
I'll be interested in your experience as I have a keenly priced AC50 on it's way from Lithuania!

Lenses are forever; bodies are only 'the best' until the next one comes along.

I contacted Pentax tech support who replied;
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your enquiry.
We do not know what was exacly changed on the manufacturing process but the K-AC132 is a newer version of the K-AC50. The specifications are similar.
With kind regards,
Tiago

No it doesn't work properly on the k3. It should work as all of the other lenses do, with the aperture ring to "A", then change it manually with the Av wheel. It acts as if this is a non A-ring lens on both bodies.
What JAK said works if you're using an older K mount lens on the body. The contacts are not working on this SMC A that I got. I've returned it for a full refund last night.

If the lens works on the K3, but not the ZX-30, then surely the problem lies with the ZX-30, not the lens? The camera was not designed to work with M and K lenses, but should work with A lenses.

I note (and have queried with Pentax Tech support) that the v1.07 .bin file for the K5II has the same file-name as the v1.06 .bin file.
