Is postage still free for PU members and if so how do you get it?
When I ordered something from SRS I just quoted my PU Userid. I'm not a member of Plus.

If it were me, all of them.

10-20mm for buildings etc
17-70mm for every day shots
fisheye for quirky (besides it's fairly small)
50mm for lowlight
55-200mm for reach.

MX1 for when you don't want to carry that little lot around
+1

York's a great place with lots of little alleys, very atmospheric at night, so wide angle (10-20 or 10-17) and fast(ish) primes are a must.

Minster and Museums - lots of detail and interest, plus in the Minster, details way up in/on the building, so 17-70 and 55-200.

In the Minster by the way they'll tap you for a 'permit' fee to take photographs if there's even a sniff of a decent camera!

I don't get the overall score of 8.5 given the 'Cons' and the fact that first time round (reviewed in August 2011) it only scored an 8.0.

They're putting it above some of the DA* and Ltd glass!

Thanks for taking the time to explain what you have about Lenstag Trevor, and for creating it.

Hopefully some of my fellow members will use it.

Thanks RayB; that's the one I couldn't think of!

I won't be listing all my kit on any website in a hurry, it strikes me that the database is unlikely to remain secure.
True, but then it's only a list of numbers against your Userid, and I rather like the idea of an instant alert to other registered users in the event your kit is stolen or lost. There's a similar database here in the UK that was originally for mobile phones only, but it doesn't have the alert facility afaik.

Seems like a good idea.

If nothing else I'll be recording the serial numbers for all my kit.

Came across this in a post elsewhere involving a 'tog who'd lost his Pentax gear by theft from his car.

I've got a 55-300 that is, to put it mildly complete rubbish.
Why? What's the issue?

thanks John, but I'm ultra careful now, certainly more so than with any previous cameras and am probably unjustly nervous at trying to blow the dust away myself.
I lifted the mirror last night to have a look but can't even see the offending particle.
Can you post a shot showing the blob please?

On the subject of the grip lights, in the picture where they're shown there's a green light around the shutter button. In the top down picture that light round the shutter button is red. Wonder if it's a stand-by mode?

Also, the more I look at this, the more I like it, especially if it had any of the pan-cake lenses mounted. Potentially a great small form-factor full APS-C combo.
