Hi aadil,

Glad to help, hope you can find what you are looking for, maybe Ebay would be a good source if it is available to you.

Regards,

John

Hi aadil,

A tough decision, why not buy an adapter to fit the 17mm to the Canon 500D. You should get manual focus and exposure the same as with a Pentax DSLR at a fraction of the cost, you could always upgrade to a Pentax later when funds permit.

You're very welcome. Yes, some cropping and manual exposure, I'm using the Samyang 8mm fisheye and just about everything is in focus when the lens is set between 1.5 and 2.0m @ f/8 due to the huge depth of field.

Yes you can but will lose some of the fisheye effect due to the crop sensor of APS-C format. I assume it's the K 17/4 in which case you will need to set exposure manually.

No problem, let me know if you need any sample shots.

Currently using the Tamron SP Di 90mm 2.8 Macro, very high IQ with great OoF rendering. Manual focus is smooth and nicely damped, the focus limiter allows very responsive AF when used as a nornal Telephoto, it fits nicely into my lens kit between the DA-70 and FA-135. The only thing I miss is the focus lock of the old FA-100/2.8 Macro.

Probably made by Teleplus, they made a lot of re-badged clones for Kenko, Soligor and others. Do you have a photo of it?

If it's a clone of the Teleplus Pz-AF 1.7x SHQ it'll be very decent IMHO.

No idea on price I'm afraid.

Hi Guys,
I'm having another senior moment so apologies if the answers should be obvious.
I have a Sigma 70-300DG but as you know this is macro 200-300mm only

So I've been looking at lenses (circa 70-110mm max) and havn't yet descided on a macro or a zoom. Or are there any which do both over the whole range

I like the idea of a macro so (for exaple) I can get shots of insects easier, but a zoom would give me a bit wider scope (maybe).

Anyway to the actual query
What do all the codes mean that follow the sizes eg
Pentax - DA; DFA; WR
Sigma - DG; EX; DC; OS
Tamron - SP; DI; DI-II; LD
Not an exhaustive list but I'm sure you've come across these and more.

Is there a listing anywhere that will explain these?
Are they (for the sake of argument) irrelevant and that any will suit a K10D and work beyond my capabilities?

regards
Bernard
DA: Digital for APS-C, no aperture ring.
DFA: digital and film full frame.
WR: Weather Resistant
DG: APS-C and full frame, digital coatings (optimised)
EX: Professional designation.
DC: Digital only.
OS: Optical Sableiser.
SP: Super Performance (pro grade lens)
Di: APS-C anf full frame (optimised for digital)
DiII: APS-C Digital only
LD; Low Dispersion glass elements

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the comments, I was actually tilting the camera as I took them trying to get a better composition on the Damselflies but resisted the temptation with the 4 Spotted Chaser as they do tend to be easily spooked.

John
