I don't know if you've noticed, but most of the camera shops

The demise of the local camera shop is a sad loss but I hardly think it would influence the manufacturers decision to release new products. Locally the 2 remaining shops we had have both gone, the last one this past year. I originally purchased my Pentax K10D from the last remaining local shop at a competitive price but I had to order it because they didn't keep Pentax in stock and hadn't for many years.

I had a similar response from Tamron to an enquiry I made. Maybe if more Pentax Users started contacting them they would realise there is a market.

Only a month until the PMA exhibition. Hopefully there will be some exciting news then.
I'm really curious as to why we got the 70-200/2.8 and yet the 70-300 USD isn't available. Surely there's a bigger market for the cheaper prosumer zoom:

Rather sparse this year though.

Maybe Ricoh will make up for it next year
Here's hoping, maybe the SDM 1.4 TC or a 500mm f/4.

That's a pretty good average that, most Sigma lenses seem to be revamps these days HSM, OS etc. and they're the most prolific lens manufacturer.

Very surprised they arent making them for Sony. The 60mm is available though.?
Sigma and Tamron are apparently dropping OS/VR for Sony and Pentax because of the in-body stabilisation and some talk of confusion with end users. Tamron do make the 60mm in Sony mount.

Since then we had the 18-250 re-badged as a Pentax, no 18-270, no VC lenses, no new 70-300, no 10-24.
The 10-24 is available in Pentax fitting, not sure of the release date but was tested by DPR February 2009 Announced at Photokina 2008. I've had a similar reply from Tamron regarding the 70-300 USD, Pentax/Ricoh need to up their game. We're not likeky to see VC lenses in Sony or Pentax mounts apparently.

I would not be interested in the Tamron, if it has the same optics as the non-VC version, too much CA and PF. The cheap non-APO Sigma is better, but badly built. The Pentax is better than both, but you can't use it on film cameras....
IF the Tamron did have better optics to its older model, I might be interested, but in all honesty I would probably save up more for the DA*60-250mm F4.

Now that Canon lens. The 70-300mm L!

I, like a lot of other togs went "what the......". But a couple of friends of mine have this lens, and OMG! it is sharp!, not fast, but very sharp.

Still, I would rather have the 60-250 on the front of my K-5
It's a completely new design, I've yet to see a negative review. The only thing that betters it optically in the same league is the Canon L series and that's £1100.

I had the LD Di for a while, fine lens apart from the PF issue, much better than any Sigma 70-300 I ever used including the APO versions.

The DA*60-250 is a fine lens but heavy and costs nearly 3x as much, I'd like something to put in a lightweight kit with the DA 17-70 when I need to travel light.
