Wait for the hands to appear in the viewfinder, I'm trying to train myself a bit to wait for it but it's hard The one thing I did like about the Canon 7D and Bigma with OS I borrowed was that you can see it settle down in the viewfinder before taking the picture whereas with my K10D it's all over the place and your not quite sure its sharp until viewing on screen.
I've lost the link now but there was a site that tested SR and the results on longer lenses really was poor.

I'd definitely recommend the DA*300/4 with rear converters 1.4 and 1.7x if it's a prime you're after. Also on the used market F* or FA*300/4.5 and the Sigma 300/4 APO, Sigma 400/5.6 APO. There's also the Sigma zooms, newly released 120-400/5,6 OS HSM and the 150-500 OS HSM plus the Sigma 50-500 as mentioned above.

I've had both, I'll take the DA*300 every time. It has a removable tripod collar, dust & moisture sealing, SP coated elements, faster aperture, Quick shift, virtually slient AF, a lens hood that allows access to a ND or CP filter and a finish that doesn't wear off so easy No contest!Smeggypants wrote:

The M 24-35/3.5 being a very good example and yes there are times when you just can't deny the benefit of the zoom.I do think the older, shorter zooms are better in terms of image quality. It's well known that the wider the range the more compromises need to be made in the design, but I also think Pentax paid a bit more attention to build quality then.............

Or miss the shot completely They do have their uses, I may need one on Monday but there again I'm tempted to take the DA*200 and FA 135 leaving the Sigma 70-200 at home, decisions eh.............If you only had a prime, you would be forced to make the use use of that one lens.
