Nice and sharp and well angled, Colin. Square crop, do you think?
It's a very interesting capture, but I'm afraid it doesn't look all that sharp to me.
+1

I'm not sure I really want a Pentax toilet? I know they make medical imaging gear!

On the plus side it would at least be compatible with all people. As opposed to the Canon version where you'd have to upgrade your rear end every few years in order to fit on it...

Thanks for that explanation, but some of the charts on another thread that I have seen indicated to me, the focus point was on centre of the chart, but was showing more in focus at the rear of the chart which could be normal, but I thought it was seen as being front focusing (can`t find the thread) mabe my memory is to blame.
DoF is rarely equal either side of the focus point, if you'd like a focus test chart I've found the following gives very good consistent results:

Dixons or one of the other large electricals were selling them for less than £60 a couple of weeks back. There's a new version on the way, hence the price reductions, but I'm not sure the new one is available in Pentax fit.

I've tried the first version and soon sold it. I found the old F 70-210 to be sharper especially at the edge of frame. The Tamron 70-300 LD Di was also considerably better IMHO at 200mm. Unless I needed the light weight and compact size with "quick shift" focus I wouldn'y buy one personally. The DA 55-300 is a different proposition altogether, reputedly much better.

I owned a Nikon FM, my second camera, the first being a Pentax MX. I preferred the size of the Nikon to the MX. I think I bought one in the year Nikon changed the shutter mechanism from what I've been told. The Nikon gave me nothing but trouble, sent for repair 4 times under warranty, I went back to the MX after that. I considered buying a Nikon D200 at one point, but all that changed with the arrival of the K10D and K20D models, I already had a large selection of Pentax lenses. I just wish Pentax would produce some longer glass 400/5.6 or 100-400mm etc.

You maybe correct about the quickshift .. I am not sure.
It's a nice feature but not something I use on my Pentax lenses anyway but I suppose it may be useful to some.
I find it very useful for wildlife when the focus is lost in dense foliage with small subjects, also when using Teleconverters with a tendency to hunt in AF. I've nearly always got my left hand supporting the lens under the focus ring on large Tele's 300mm+. It took a little getting used to but now has become second nature, I wouldn't want to be without it now.
