There's also the Samyang 14mm, manual focus, but very well regarded apparently for about half the price of the Pentax or Sigma

That went quick John. I've just looked at ebays
completed listings full BIN of £450

I can't decide whether to sell mine or sell the F*300 f/4.
Seems pointless keeping the two.
I'll have to do some more testing
Three day BIN listing, it's a lovely lens but I have the DA*300 and Sigma 300/4 APO, one had to go, it was a tough choice.

Hi Algi,

I always preferred the original K series caps, without the silver bling of the later ones

Hi Algi, they were built to last OK thanks for the link, confirms my opinion of the lens, usable wide open at f/4. I hsve an AP test report reprint, in it they say it was hard to pick the optimum aperture in the test results between f/4 and f/11 they were so close

Some nice Grebe shots too, I've never been fortunate enough to own the Pentax 1.7 converter, perhaps it's for the better as I may be inclined to keep the lens if that were the case

John

I have the Sigma 10-20 4-5.6 it's a very good lens, works perfectly on the K20D, non HSM but not really needed on a lens I use for lanscape
Less distortion than the newer f/3.5 version and smaller filter size 77mm as opposed to 82mm, apparently sharper at the edges too. The Pentax 12-24 is very good, constant f/4 aperture, very sharp, lovely colour rendering and contrast, not as wide and more complicated distortion
