I have one of these and it contains an amazing amount of information.

I think the claim is weather and dust resistant, or, in some cases "all weather" - not weather or dust proof. I have found torrential rain has been OK, but I am careful to make sure the camera and lens have totally dried before attempting to change lens, card or battery. Water must not be allowed to get inside.

There are so many excellent manual focus 100mm macro lenses that it's hard to imagine we could find a really bad one.

Continuing to think about this, the other lens I had been waiting for was the 17-28mm Fisheye zoom, but then I found a film era version. The SMC Pentax-F 17-28mm Fisheye Zoom is absolutely tack sharp on the K-1, so no need for the new one now.

If you can find one it's superb.

If you only have a zoom, then just shoot an image at the appropriate focal length. I'm pretty sure JAK has detailed this in his competition, but that would be:

For Q system - 8.5mm
For APS-C - Around 35mm
For full frame - 50mm

Hope that helps!

It seems to be OK now.

Well 2019 is almost upon us, and Happy New Year for when it gets here!

What I'm wondering is what lenses are we all likely to buy in 2019? I mean for our Pentax cameras of course.....

For me, it has to be one that already exists (HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm f/1.4 AW) and one that just might arrive (HD Pentax-D FA 70-200mm f/4).

The 50mm is just superb quality and I'd like it just for the joy of that. The f/4 version of the 70-200mm would be ideal for travel. It is hopefully going to be another incredible lens and rather lighter and a bit smaller than the f/2.8 version.

Unfortunately a reputation for something takes a long time to die away on the internet, if it ever does. There's no reason to suppose that any new lens will fail any sooner than anything else we buy and I wouldn't let past woes stop me.

Also, the K-1 is brilliant, if you want one go for it! I was glad that I did.
