We took the trip along the Manchester Ship Canal from Salford to Liverpool and I used the SMC Pentax-FA J 75-300mm lens for most of the journey. I bought this for £119.95 from SRS a couple of years back, when they found a batch of new lenses. Humble though the lens might be, it's actually pretty good. It works well on the K-1.

We had a great week in the Kingdom of Fife and will be heading back that way, perhaps in 2020.

This is the May Isle we can see from Crail?

A great opportunity and some fine images.

We were in the butterfly house and they just kept landing on Sue. She hasn't had so many people pointing cameras at that part of her anatomy before. We spent a good couple of hours chasing the butterflies, but patience seems to win the day.

Thanks to pschlute I am now the owner of what is arguably a brand new SMC Pentax-M 75-150mm f/4 zoom and if not brand new then certainly in gorgeous, glowing condition.

The picture shows the new lens centre stage, along with the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/3.5 and the current HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm. At the time of its release it didn't seem so compact, but from today's perspective it's positively tiny.

I'd like the opportunity to take its picture alongside the Olympus OM 75-150mm f/4 as these lenses share the significance of being amongst the first zooms that really started to challenge the quality of prime lenses. If anybody can help with that I'd be glad to hear from them.

I'm putting my new lens through its paces at the moment, so watch this space!

We're just back from a week near New Quay in west Wales. Close to Devil's Bridge is a butterfly house, but also the hydro-electric power station, run with water from the gorge. And there was plenty of water. These images are from the overflow, using the K-1 and 28-105mm lens. They are actually colour images, but look black and white because the subject is pretty much monochrome.

There are just a couple of entries so far, so hopefully more will follow.

This competition asks for derelict buildings, showing the whole of a building to see its overall structure, or at least as much as possible. It can be anything as long as it's abandoned and derelict. There are thousands of such places, and the images can be old or new.
