Getting it in is much easier if we attach the adapter to a lens and then just bayonet the whole into the camera like any K lens. To remove, unscrew the lens. Releasing the catch and letting the adapter fall out into the palm of the hand covers removal.

What we are in effect doing is temporarily converting a K bayonet camera into a screw thread one and screw thread lenses can be removed and fitted as desired.

Incidentally, the case for the Pentax adapter is a strong one. It may cost more, but it doesn't leave fragments of plating floating about like some cheaper ones do.

Hope that helps!

It all sounds very positive to me, there are so many great Pentax lenses out there and they can be used on a variety of mirrorless bodies. My opinion is It's no different to a Pentax lens being used on a Zenith or Praktica film body.

I have just tried it out and both hoods fit both lenses perfectly well. They also look very similar in terms of how much shading they offer, but whether or not one vignettes slightly I cannot say from just looking. The finish on the plastic is slightly different, but that's just cosmetic.

Hope that helps!

There's a lovely quality to this lens, and a great set of images.

There is a limitation to testing older lenses. We only have one sample, the lenses are maybe 40 or 50 years old and we have no idea how they have been treated in that time. So, where possible, conclusions can include reference to how the new lenses behaved on our new film cameras many years ago, and, more relevant now, how they behave with digital sensors. Lenses being of varying performance may relate these days very heavily on how they have been looked after.

As for the 40mm, it was a lovely lens on my ME Super and MX bodies, and, perhaps a coincidence, the DA APS-C format 40mm is a lovely lens as well.

Of course what matters most of all is how your copy behaves on your camera.
