I rather like the monochrome versions as well. They have a certain timeless quality and also suppress and distracting flashes of colour.

Lovely images whatever the camera, but I've always liked the 750Z as well. I also let mine go. I also regretted it. Alas, I haven't found one for £1 !

I would suspect that the strobing of the lights, which our eyes would not notice, is falling foul of the way the sensor is read. Except for global sensors it is usual for the information to be read a line at a time, resulting in an effect called rolling shutter distortion. The light will be on or off at different points in the exposure, so banding may well occur. ISO 25600 is unlikely to help as quality usually drops siginificantly at that level.
