What is the situation regarding Ricoh cameras and PentaxUser?
Just putting the feelers out.
F50 1.7. SMC-FAs 24, 35, 50 1.4, 85, 135. HD-FA15-30, DFA24-70, D-FA*70-200. The SMC-FA Limited Trinity.

Some Mamiya and some Nikon
While we're on the subject, what's the general consensus about adapted lenses, for example lets say a Pentax-M being adapted on a Fujifilm/Olympus/Panasonic/Sony camera, is that a step too far?

I think encouraging Pentax lens use on mirrorless is a great thing. The film and second hand market do more to keep the brand alive in hearts and minds than the current offerings from Ricoh Pentax.
We embraced Samsung when they were selling the GX range, and let's not forget that if it wasn't for Sony who would supply the sensors for our cameras? As long as folk are open about what they use then I am all for it.
Thank you, that's a positive and great way of looking at it.

Thanks, we're looking to promote the site in the near future and adapted (vintage) lenses is something I've had in mind for a while, my personal opinion is as long as there's one Pentax/Ricoh element (camera or lens) being used in the set up, I feel it could be a positive for the site and a way of attracting additional users.
I'm all for it...as long as either the camera body or lens are Pentax/Ricoh connected.
I should imagine without a bit more input to the site it will end up being shut down and we all get migrated to the main ephotozine site if not already on there.
Others perhaps might be more rigid on this being permitted .
Great topic for discussion.
Maybe a poll could help
A possible new dawn awaits.

Agreed. In fact, I think that camera technology has got to the point where any current(-ish) generation camera from any manufacturer can take a good image, it's the lens that really makes the difference (plus the photographer, of course ).

Have you thought about finding a sponsor who will donate a roll of film per month for a 'Film picture of the Month' competition? Catch the growing wave of youthful enthusiasm for film, recognition for those who have taken the plunge and bought a Pentax 17 etc. etc.

My concern would be you'd get posts from all and sundry rather than the Pentax passionate. That might change the friendly nature of the forum, but maybe that's what it needs to keep it going.
Other forums can be friendly, too . And even this forum has lost some members because of what other people have posted.
It would be sensible, though, to put discussion of Pentax lenses on non-Pentax bodies in a different section. And to have reasonable rules to keep discussion to Pentax lenses only rather than letting discussion degenerate into "Brand X's lens is better than Pentax", "Oh no it isn't", "Oh yes it is". Even this forum has some of that at times, although it does usually seem to fizzle out quite quickly.
Fan of DA limited and old manual lenses
