Dear Nellie you could do what I did and buy an LX. The standard viewfinder that comes with it the FA1 has diopter adjustment from zero to -1.5 as far as I can remember. There is also an FA1W finder that does about -3 to plus 1 I think. I have both but as my eyes aren't as bad as I thought I might get rid of the FA1W.

Not bothered about a D400, I just needed a camera at a certain time and ended up with the D300.

Want a K-7 ? Maybe, I'll definetley havs a look at it when it comes out.

Retired ? I wish I was.

Funny thing happened today though, went down the camera shop and they didn't have any 49mm filters ( I needed one for my 50mm F1.4 on the LX ) so in desperation I went to Jessops, guess what ? None there either ?

Well said Mike, I quite honestly couldn't care what people spend their money on or when they spend it. It's their money not mine after all
Well I draw the line at people buying Canon tbh

No decent Canon forums around then Tel?

What's the betting you go for a K-7 in the not too distant future?
No decent Nikon forums either Why else would I be here

I loved my MZ5 more than the Z1 or Z1P I had, MZ5 best auto focus film Pentax.

LX most desireable luxurious Pentax.

MX just the best Pentax ever, there's nothing it can't do, 25 years later mine is still functioning perfectley. If they'd brought out an MXn and put mirror lock up on it it would be perfect.

Yes I do know you can do a kind of mirror lock up with a bit of fiddling but please not again.

The DS wasn't bad either, image quality was outstanding, size and weight were almost ideal too.

[quote:3496ace15f="scottie"]£1199 at that price i'm definitely moving full time onto nikon when the K200D dies of death. I recently payed a good price for D300 and its a fantastic bit of kit. forgive my being presumptuous, but i cant see the K7 being as good as the D300, when you consider the cost of the D300 is the same or less depending on where you shop. and thats with the 2 prices hikes by nikon this year!
And I hope you like having to pay for Nikon Glass, it may be good, but so expensive.
Also the D300 is due for the chop with a newer version soon.
Actually go and have a look at the price of Nikon glass compared to Pentax, you might be shocked as a lot of the primes are cheaper on the Nikon 35mm F1.8 £190, 50mm f1.8 £110, 85mm f1.8 £330 and the 16-85 VR zoom probably the sharpest standard lens in the world a shade over £400 and of course the Tokina 16-50 and 50-135 are available in Nikon mount for about the same price as the Pentax. Not knocking Pentax but the days of cheap glass for any brand are over.
But what is forgotten is the image stabilisation, get into the longer lengths where it is required, the 70-200 VR £1549.[/quote]They do do a stabilised 70-300 for about £330 ( I think ), the 16-85 is shake reduced. Admittedly their macro lenses are much more expensive. I'm just old fashioned and the range of short fast cheap primes Nikon do suits me. Never had shake reduction before so while it's an advantage I don't miss what I never had.
If I did want to move back to Pentax it would just be nice if I could get short fast primes at Nikon prices.

I do miss my FA135mm F2.8 though.

I'll wait and see what price it comes down to and how it performs. I find my Nikon a bit heavy as a holiday camera so if the K7 is good I might consider getting one for holiday and seeing where I go from there. Maybe a k7 with a black 43mm would be all I need on holiday ?

I had a DS but now my Pentax gear comprises of an LX & and MX. Digitally I have a D50 and D300. The LX still feels the best followed by the MX.
