£1199 is the retail price, which includes the announced price rises that come into effect on 1st June, so we won't see it go up again. If the rumours are right and we see price hikes the like of Sigma, then maybe it would have been £899.
Still, I do expect that SRS will knock about £100 off that if they can!

Park Cameras seem to do this every time they put a big fat sticker price on. No doubt some will order from them but I would hope most people will look else where.
Mind you 'underspecified compared to Nikon and Canon.......' is a bit of a curved ball, where did that come from as it seems to match up pretty well IMHO

I notice that SRS are only taking deposits at the moment, does this mean that Park cameras and the likes are advertising goods they can't supply?:

what was the introduction price of the K20D?
It was around 1200 Euro when I am correct, so the introduction price for the K-7 isn't that high in my opinion.

£1199 at that price i'm definitely moving full time onto nikon when the K200D dies of death. I recently payed a good price for D300 and its a fantastic bit of kit. forgive my being presumptuous, but i cant see the K7 being as good as the D300, when you consider the cost of the D300 is the same or less depending on where you shop. and thats with the 2 prices hikes by nikon this year!

Ah yes. the Nikon price may be the same, but does it have a K-mount that lets you use all that wonderful Pentax glass?

Also the D300 is due for the chop with a newer version soon.

I think that once it has been out a little while and they make any adjustments to the range that they might be planning I think we will see the price come down quite a bit (relatively speaking). Just in time for Xmas!!

....Only good thing is that they will have to drop the price for any real sales as this camera is massively overpriced and underspec'ed compared to Nikon and Canon.......
