Hi Jonathan, it's a threaded metal ring, possibly with a rubber ring outside (or the rubber might be the small eyecup around the ring?). Assuming its the same as the 645n (and therefore 645D/Z), it is how finder accessories like the refconverter are attached. You unscrew the ring and screw the accessory onto the thread shown in your photo.

Edit: It may be this part, but I'd check it includes the threaded ring and will fit a 645:

Why doesn't Pentax try to steal someone else's AF technology?
They all stole that as well, the ME-F (1981) was the first SLR to use a TTL AF system, including the idea to put the motor in the lens - a 35-70/2.8...

Hi All,

Before the K-1 was released I bought an FA (PZ) 28-105 f/4-5.6 knowing that it received good comments when released. I haven't really used it much but decided to take it out for a spin last week, quite impressed with the results. I had considered selling it on, but don't think I will now.

I managed to get a few shots of G-NWAA from the North West Air Ambulance recently. This was the best - in hindsight I might have upped the shutter speed a bit from 1/125th.

Alternatively you can take a JPG with the camera and upload it to this link: https://www.pentaxforums.com/pages/check-shutter-count-exif.html

I bought a 645 D-FA 55/2.8 SDM off them about a year ago, it arrived as described and hasn't had any issues since. Their price was good compared to other options, I would recommend reading their descriptions carefully.

The Spotmatic ERCs have the 'Spotmatic' logo - kind of an 'eye' logo as a badge, otherwise they're hard to differentiate.

I didn't want the premium kit! I have no use for a grip. It was a prize draw, so nothing more than dumb luck.
Hi Kris, you're one of the more enthusiastic members of PF and here, and a huge fan of K glass. I think it's fitting that you won the prize of a camera that makes it easier to use these older lenses.

Well done.

I'd say that's about three times what it's worth, even in today's market. The A 28-80 kit lens that came with the P series is a real dog and I wouldn't pay a penny for one.
I don't think it's that bad, from a dealer with a 6 month guarantee (not some shonky online auction), with a Pentax flash. Not a bad setup for someone starting out in film. The lens gets a 8.6 in the PF database (nothing to be sneezed at): link
