I've used several pre-set lenses, but not the particular one you're referring to. Once you get used to their way of working though you'll find they're quite straightforward in operation.

You'll find most lenses benefit from being stopped down a little to improve sharpness; in the case of yours (and with a max aperture of f/6.3) I'd imagine it would be best at around the f/8-f/11 mark - at least in Australia you get enough sunshine to make that possible!

It's probably a "pre-set" lens - in other words you select the aperture you want to use with the first ring, and then open and close it with the second (open to focus, close to meter and take the shot).

All the aperture ring does on lenses of this design is move a "stop" around to prevent the closing action going beyond a specified point. On later lenses both actions would be combined into the single ring.

I've done 25,137 in two and a half years on the K10D - so about 10k a year is my average (although I've used other cameras over the same period but none of them to anywhere near the same extent).

The F 35-70 is quite a nice lens, certainly better than the average "kit" offerings over the years. Kris (womble) was looking for one to go with one of his film bodies but I don't know if he ever found one...

Don't know about the other three but I'd find it hard to get very excited by any of them to be honest. Doubt you'd lose much (if anything) on them though if you wanted to pick them up / try them out / sell them on again.

Hi Aiki, Tinkerbell isn't keen on the idea of being caught, but says if she gets the time she'll pop over to Estonia and say "Hello" in person.

And I do love my garden, it's not very big but there's always plenty of flowers, birds and insects to pose for the camera.

genius loci of my garden

Lots of fiddling and outright trickery in Photoshop 5. Not really 100% in keeping with the competition but I was making the image anyway and I figured it sort of fitted the theme...

I'm advertising this kit on behalf of a friend of mine who's just bought a K-7 and the WR versions of the two kit lenses. He wants to sell the Samsung kit as one lot so that's how it's being offered - if there are no takers after a week or so then it may be split up. ASKING PRICE IS £500 THE LOT + P&P AT COST (WORLDWIDE).

Everything is boxed with original paperwork / manuals / software and even the internal packaging:

All items are in virtually mint condition having had only light/moderate use since new. The shutter count of the body is 5987 and all items were bought from Park Cameras around two years ago. A couple of shots of the body to illustrate:

I didn't bother unpacking all the other bits but they're all in identical condition. Also included with the body is an additional (spare) battery purchased from 7dayshop.com at around the same time as the camera. The original battery / charger / cables are all present also.

The kit will be sold to the first person to make a firm offer via PM. I will then give you the name and the phone number of the seller for you to sort out between yourselves payment / postage methods. He'll take cash, cheque, PayPal or bank transfer and he's happy for you to collect from his home (Aylesbury) or office (Northampton) if you'd rather not have it posted.

Finally, although the seller isn't a member on here I have sold a couple of lenses on his behalf before and I'm quite happy to vouch for his trustworthiness.

I think they're gorgeous shots and very well suited to a commercial website.

For those interested in getting a D-FA100 there's a listing on eBay currently for some new/boxed/ex-demo examples for just £299.95 each (free p&p).

I'm not affiliated with the seller and I already have one but for anybody looking for one I can't imagine getting one cheaper!
